Gosh Duncan, what are you like ?

I think I'll be getting some more Munters next year [>:]

My old BVM BobCat composite has a Wren SS, so I'd like to replace that with the M90 I have reserved for the SM VJ
Then I'd need to replace the M90 with say a M100 for the VJ.
The Eurofighter has got a M140, but I still need a turbine for the YA F15, so might get a M140 for it.
Maybe a Stinger and M35 when that finally comes out.

Sounds like a plan to me......................but I'll wait until all of Gaspar's Turbines are like the VT

Jason, how many Munters are you getting ?

i think you and jason have already had enough munters to last a lifetime, but you can't have to many Jets Munt turbines

Turbines or other sorts of "Munters" ?
Time to start saving and brown-nosing a few Munts resellers.

I really do think they are the best engines made and my next Munter (the M35) should be here in the new year [8D]

ALI,

Would this turbine be the turbine of choice to go in a Skymaster/Extreme Jets 2m Viper. If not then which turbine would you recommend?

Ali

Ummm after seeing your Viper fly at Luffenham on Saturday the VT80 would go very nice with the Viper. I was also surprised how quiet it was in my friends F16.

The power of the VT80 is quite evident, after holding the F16 with my legs for a full power check I quickly had to get hold of the nose with my hands...! big difference to the P60 he used to have in before!

Look forward to getting my VT80

Can see the 'Rutland RC Flyers' changing to the 'VT80' club

Hello Ali,
Do you think the VT80 would be enough for the Paritech SZD 54 Glider ? Regards.Etienne.

Hi Etienne. You and I share the same taste in great models
Another perfect match for sure. I have seen this model fly well with the Gbooster 80+ so the VT will be great.

Hi guys - i am brand new to jets having flown everything else and still finding myself wanting one !

For my first jet i was going to go down the Boomerang nano route. I was thinking that this engine would fit and seems to be just the ticket if i get hooked and move up to a bigger jet.

Is it feasible ? Would i have to restrict the thrust?

Cheers

Ant

Ant, I would think the Sprint would be more suitable, I'm just down the road in Longton if you need any more info on the engine.

I received my VT 80 From Als on Friday after a wait that was well worth it... Thanks Ali. The box didnt come gift wrapped , so i couldn't put it under the Christmas tree, i had to open it.... WOW what a great little engine. So nice to see an engine like this with everything simplified and easy to use. The whole engine package is really small and light for the amount of thrust it puts out. Im sure this is going to be a very successful little engine.

Although it was well packaged There was a small gouge at the back of the engine case (which is only cosmetic), and the engine mount on each side seemed to come away from the engine at an angle of around 80deg rather then 90deg. did any one else's mount seem this way? Im sure once i bolt it in position it will straighten out. Some pics of the engine next to a P80se and Wren 200 shown below.

I plan to put this engine into my Feibao L-39 and later on into my Skymaster F-16 in the tail.
For those that have run this engine, what would you say your average fuel consumption is over your flight? my Feibao L-39's tank looks to be a bit bigger than size of a 1500cc 50oz dubro tank, maybe a bit larger possibly around 60oz?. I'm not sure if i should be looking to get another larger tank or just adding another tank. what fuel capacity would you recommend.
Im looking at adding a FOD guard has anyone fitted one and can recommend one that fits?

Simon

I also recieved my VT80 on Friday as I was off from work I had a drive down to Al's to pick mine up.
Very nicely made engine and the T shirt not bad either!

Ali does a 90mm fod guard for £15.30 you just have to clear a small amout to get it by the mouldings of the starter housing!

During the holidays will give it a spin up, Ali did warn me that there was not a lot in the box he was right! very weird!

Yep mount is the same on mine, not a problem it will straighten up to what ever you bolt it to providing you bolt it to something solid!

By the way those other engines should be in an airframe!

Any pictures to compare P100 vs VT80? (or M100 which is the same size) I always thought P100 was smaller until I read the Jets Munt size, 7mm less diameter then P100(!?)

We have some images here if you scroll down for size comparison:

www.jets-munt.com

The Merlin 140 is P100 size in the centre.

Alan What plane do you plan to put yours into? Any idea on the amount of fuel this engine needs?

Thanks for the info on the FOD screen.

For now for testing probably going to take my Wren 54 out of my Falcon 120 and try the VT80, the tank which I made out of West Systems epoxy is 3 litres. The VT does not need this amount but if the Wren 54 can haul 3 litres round then the VT will!

Going to finally put in an F16/Vipet Jet next year not decided yet, my friend who has the VT80 has it installed in a FE F16 and I am pretty sure he is no way near 3 litres but I will try and find out his tank size. The flights he has had has not exactly sucked fuel heavily. The VT certainly spins up very quickly

Picked up a VT80 from Colin at Boomerang UK on Monday to install in my Exige. Very nice turbine, excellent size at well under 100mm diameter and super easy to install as the pump is the only ancilliary (apart from a battery). This makes this turbine really well suited to airframes with limited mounting space. Ran it up for the first time today with one of my sons on fireman duty. Absolute non event, it was running inside 45 seconds from start, sounded fantastic and seems to put out a shed load of thrust.

Looking forward to maidening the Exige as a GT soon after Christmas.

Happy Christmas everyone.
