The poll has 239 votes. The free poll only shows results to 100 votes. Cost for the "Pro" poll version is $199 per year. I'm thinking about buying it to use for my business in polling customers. Seems kinda high though for something I would only use maybe a few times. I'll noodle it for a few days.

So the results may drastically change instantly if I purchase this pro version. Just a heads up.

So who is the BEST?  Are all the ones with ZERO percent winners for the best of the best category?

I think the best ARFs are:

BVM
Comp-ARF
Yellow
Boomerang

Now my ranking is judging by "build it per the instruction manual" and go fly it a hundred times with basically no problems.

Keep in mind that I really mean "ARFs". No, a Mibo A-10 is not an ARF...and neither is an Avonds, Airworld ETC...you really have to build those. I'm talking about "open the box, remove your painted jet, install your gear with out having to modify anything and go fly".

As a newb asking around at places like KY Jets and SJS, this sure seems to be the concensus. KC's opinion about C-ARF being the best "bang for the buck" seems pretty consistent, as well.

Just my newb $.02-worth ($.03 if obtained through BVM)

+1

Sure, BVM builds some nice stuff but if I was going "upmarket" I would buy a Tom Cook jet first.

I am sold on Comp Arf - well built stuff that actually gets tested before the design is released for sale.

Beave,

Which Yellow ARFs have you built, just out of curiosity? I ask because I built a BV Bandit ARF, and as lovely as it was, it still felt more like a highly prefabbed kit than an ARF. As far as Yellow ARFs go, there's no airframe construction to do at all....?

Shaun,

To be brutally honest...an Eflight foamy is almost beyond my ability to build.... I don't build but have seen a lot of them going together. My list was in no particular order...just about quality, fit and finish as well as "it just works".

I was up at Steve Burnett's house a couple of months ago picking up the Tucano after he did the Jetcat conversion for me and spent a good bit of time drooling all over his new Yellow F-18. All I kept saying was "DAMN!!!"

Now, if I can get my hands on the new Eflight F-4...I'm gonna build it myself! It might end up looking like a ball of monkote with toothpicks sticking out at various angles...but I'm gonna try!

when this one is done, you should do a poll on the worst turbine manufacturer..... It would be interesting to see who is second....[>:]

Dave
Really...

I would have though that you would have mentioned your favorite Chinese manufacturer
We ALL know who is first don't we? I'm just throwing out who I'd vote for second. 4 years later and my #1 worst turbine maker still can't get fuel needles correct!

Now back to bashing FEJ......

Beave,

I have the Yellow ARF F18 and F15 and I was also blown away by the quality of these models.....the build quality of them was better than one of my jets that was professionally built for me by a guy in the US. They are more like a custom built jet than what we know as ARF's. Well done Yellow! Worth every cent! They might me marginally more expensive than the Chinese ARFs they compete with but I reckon they are well worth it.

I love skymaster's landing gear also though....really good stuff!

My 2 flashes (classic and ultra) are really fuel and go models....no brainers to fly and they really are as KC said...... great bang for buck too.

Can you get therapy for this addiction?

Craig.

This is a very good idea ... It is also where the winner is actually a loser.

I know that this is illogical.

But I do not want to vote to other factories.

I haven't make all customers satisfied.

so, I voted myself

Well, I couldn't stand it. with over 400 votes I wanted to see the results. So now I have a polling tool to use for the next year. The results are kinda staggering.

Well, there you have it. The winner of the Loser Award goes to FEJ ... and by a distinct margin.

YIKES !! That's gotta hurt.

The real sad thing is, it doesn't have to be that way. They clearly have some skills in the moulding and paint department, and some of their kits also look good inside as well and fly nicely. If they just had a reliable set of reps. who actually *flew* and *tested* their stuff and they made improvements to it as necessary *before* selling them to customers, they could have some real winners - that and doing a slightly smaller number of jets *right* instead of so many wrong.

However, in spite of the efforts of some, like James, to help their customers when they can, "the factory know best" and they keep pumping them out, flying them once, painting them real pretty, and shipping them to customers...
