Default Skymaster T-38 help needed

I am working on a Skymaster T-38, there is no manual.
Most of the instructions on the Skymaster site are on the F-5, not the T-38.
Can anybody tell me if the T-38 also needs a spacer on the motor mount when installing a Jetcat, if so how high is this offset ?
Also the CG is not very clear, any help would be appreciated...
Thanks.

Easiest thing to do is try different size spacers until the turbine is aligned with the pipe.

I have one here also, there is a LOT to be desired for instructions on the web site. Mine has no provision for the rudder servo to be mounted and there is no mount for the steering servo. I guess I will have to wing it on a lot of stuff.

What gear are planning on running ?

Surprised it doesn't have a clear canopy?

The canopy is fiberglass, painted silverish, might consider cutting it out if I can get my hands on a clear canopy (the other T-38 's are clear canopied)
I am using the Skymaster gear, which is very nice and flat.
the nosegear steering servo is on the strut actually and works very nice,
DDL , did you see the offset for Jetcat in the manual ?

No, I did not see an actual offset measurement but I believe 3-5mm is about right. The nose gear in this one has no provision for the servo to be mounted, would be nice if it did. It just has the arms for the pull-pull to hook up.

Maybe thats why the canopy on this one is grey, because the design of the bulkheads has the steering servo pull up in the front cockpit...

The 108 is my cg. It is perfect. 15 degrees flap for take off and 40 to 45 for landing. Still adding to my flaps. Mounted tray in nose of mine for steering.

Kevin, I know you are using an RTI, did you change the height or angle on the turbine mounts ?
It really looks like my turbine is tilted downward 5 degrees sitting flush on the mounts...

Just lined the center of the turbine to the center of the pipe. Looking from the back you can see it is going straight down the pipe. The engine is in a bypass so it may have had a little shimming.

Plane has 25 flights so far. Flys great!! Keep adding more flaps for landing. Getting close. May end up with 45 or 50 degrees for landing. It is slowing down more and more with the nose high landing attitude.

Kevin, how much thrust ae you running, debating on which turbine to put in it. Does it slow down pretty nice ?

I like the new style with the servo on unit. Power requirement is 25 pounds I would think to be safe. I have 29 in mine but don't need full throttle. I am running passes in the high 180's with this set up at small reducement in power setting on stick. Making slow steps to full throttle. I believe the airframe is good to 200 but taking it slow to get there.

We are actually building one for Viofan 3 electric. I think with the pipe and tanks out we can reduce the weight to 24 / 25 pounds. Let you know how this one goes in future

Forgot, model is slowing down with the increase in flaps. First landings were a little fast, but as the flaps are added it is allowing me to slow down with high nose for landing. I think it will be a piece of cake once the flaps are completely in. I am thinking 45 to 50 degrees or even a little more in the end.

How about take-off, is it jumpy like the F-5, how long a runway do you need ?

My home field is 640 and only use 400 for take off with the 29 pound engine. Rotation is nice with 15 degrees of flap. Climb out at 35 to 40 degrees.

Very good to hear these positive experiences from you, I was a little worried as not many of these are flown...yet !
very interesting also to electrify a big model like this , hard to believe a few years ago.
Last year I had the pleasure of seeing a big Yellow twin F-18 fly on Electric power, unbelievable.
Ordering a clear canopy for my Thunderbird now.

I like the newer gear, we are actually thinking about changing to the new electric gear from Dreamworks.

The plane will be flown out of a 400ft paved runway, was just concerned about take-off power but did not want to overpower the plane. I just dont know if it capable of subsonic flight. I could go with a K-140 or K170, sounds like the 140 will be the ticket, especially with only 140oz of fuel.

Dale, be careful as only gear with opposite cylinder and strut movement will fit.
height on mine is only 1 inch and barely fits in the wing !
