Hi PAPRAOUL
i used 3mm screws from both sides of the fuse
when you put the canopy you cannot see the screws
the 3 mm screws are with head cone that way it is flat whan it is tight
best
happy new year

Hi,
some of you got pictures to see how you placed the brake hose?
It does not seem easy to find the best 'cause it seems does not work well

RE: Skygate/CARF Viperjet
Good Afternoon Everyone!
I have enjoyed everyones' input, advice and techniques on this forum. I have my rudder, both stabs, ailerons installed and rigged, one flap installed and rigged, and working on retract installation. I did go with CARF retract set, and they are a beautiful piece of work, design and art. I am going to use an EVO 160, which I love from flying in the F-18.
I have a crazy question and hope that some of you will chime in. I had CARF Flash, and built a stand modeled after the BVM craddle. My F-18, and F-16, have their gear in the fuselage, so they easily roll into the trailer for transport. My 44% CARF Giles just rolls into the trailer too. This is the largest jet that I have bought that didn't have main wheels in the fuselage. I would love to see how you store the fuselage at home(F-18 sits on dining room table), and how you transport it in your trailer. I do have a trailer, and hang the wings to all of my planes/jets. I am not sure what to build here to transport the Viper's fuselage, and isn't too heavy for me to move in and out of the house. Thought about hanging it belly up from the ceiling in the trailer, and have done that with the Flash when I was carrying too many planes. I think this jet is too bulky to do that with for one person on loading and unloading. Let's put it this way, I do more hanger rash damage to all of my CARF's and others, then I do flying them...lol....so, concerned to make something safe for this jet.
Remember, pictures speak thousands of words.
Thanks! Dan

Hey Gentlemen!
I have decided to post some pictures of my assembly of the Viper. I realize that many of you are already proficient at assemblying CARF's., and don't need any of the ideas I have used, but this post is for the beginner to help them with their project. As all of us, I tried to use what I have in stock, rather then buy something more for the jet, and bought when and where I needed the correct parts. As most of us, we have more in stock in the closest, then we use. Some of the pictures might look a little distorted, due to the fish eye lens that I am using for the pictures. Since I had a lot of BVM airline in stock, I wanted to use it, rather then buy more. The issue is that the landing gear require 4 mm, and BVM airline is 3 mm. So, I used a Festo 4mm-3mm reducer at the gear to use the line I had in stock. I also had NIB BVM Smooth stop, and retract valve in stock, and chose to use them. For the fuel system, even though I have 4 kevlar tanks in stock..lol......I didn't want to put 3 of them together to make one, so chose to buy the CARF tank, and it is the ticket for the project. I am also using a BVM UAT that I had in stock too.
I also had all of my servos in stock too, and I am using JR8411 on the elevator's and ailerons, Spektrum a6030 servos for the flap, JR8611a for the rudder, and then JR for the rest of the servos. I have tried to use snake skin from Dreamworks to hide all of the servo, airlines and fuel lines. For electric I am using dual 2200ma 7.4 lipos to a Dual Fromco Wolverine switch(I love them and use them in all of my gas and jets), which if they fail, fail to the ON position, and drain each of the lipos evenly, to Dual Fromco Sahara regulators, then to the receiver, which is JR1221. I have used this electrical set up on my previous CARF 2.6 Extra, CARF Flash, CARF 44% Giles, 1/8th scale F-18, and have never had an issue, with hundreds of succesful flights over the past 7+ years.
I hope that you enjoy some of my assembly of the jet.

RE: Skygate/CARF Viperjet
First off, I LOVE CARF products, and when I first returned to r/c after a 25 year lull, I can remember seeing my first CARF at the field. I couldn't believe that guys were spending that kind of money on gas planes. After a couple years back into the hobby, I finally bought that CARF Extra that I saw at the field from a buddy of mine. I have been lucky to be able to afford my 4th CARF being the Viper. My biggest complaint against the company is not finishing the seam other then tape. The earlier models, they used to do more on finishing the seam. I realize that they are painted in the mold, and it makes it difficult to match up the finish on some of the paint design, like the Fanasty that I have purchased. But, I have fixed the seams on my Flash, and others, so here is my initial attempt to fix this seam, then I will clear coat the whole jet with a metallic or pearl clear coat.
I want to add, that this issue is a very minor one, and more my personal choice to fix. Compared to the way CARF's products fly, and hold up under extreme flying, this is really a non-issue and cosmetic

Gentlemen!!
Can finally upload more pictures here on RCU.
Thought I would put out there a couple tips to help those who are having issues with the gear doors and how to get the wholes to line up for the main gear. Also, wanted to show what I did for the nose gear door. This jet is supposed to be an everyday jet for me, so making things simple and reliable. The nose gear door, I copied off of the Flash's nose gear door. This is a mechanical door depending on the wind to close it and the nose gear strut to push it open. Worked very well on my Flash for a couple hundred flights. The nose gear door will also act as a small speed brake.
On the main gear doors, you will want to sand them to fit. Then, lay a piece of masking tape over the retract and the strut, mark the holes where the bolts go to hold the door onto the strut. Peel back the tape, but do not take it off of the retract. Tape a piece of tape to hold the door in place, and bring the tape back onto the door and mark your holes. You will want to remove the gear door to drill the holes, so as to not mess up the threads on the strut. On the retract cover, instead of hot glue as suggested, I drilled two holes into the retract wings, tapped them for 4-40, and bolted the retract cover to the retract. I have inserted pictures to help. Dan

I also worked on the seam on the top of the jet, along with the intake ducts. I didn't tackle the leading edges of the wings and stab, but did blend some orange and red onto the leading edge of the wings to tone the yellow down. Then clear coated the whole jet with metallic clear coat. The first picture is the jet out of the box from the factory. Finished the canopy, and ready now for taxi checks.

Hey Guys!
I took the Viper out yesterday for fuel tank and engine run test, along with taxi testing. Found a couple minor issues that I need to address prior to the maiden, and hope to do that soon in Cape Coral.

RE: Skygate/CARF Viperjet
Went for simplicity so that I didn't have to install any actuators or gear door sequencer. This worked well on my Flash for several hundred of flights. I think I posted some of the reasoning up a couple post on the installation of it. The wind closes it, the gear strut pushes it out of the way. It also acts like a small speed brake when the gear come down. This is to be my everyday flying jet. Remember too, this is a sports jet, not a scale jet. My F-18 has 8 actuators, and that gives me all of the headaches that I need on it with gear doors.
