BVM 80 inch F-86 Build
3 weeks ago I ordered a BVM80" F-86 kit. It takes about 4 weeks after ordering before the kit is shipped so I have about another week to wait before it gets shipped to me. I've searched the forum and could not find many threads on this plane and there were no build threads. So, how many of you are interested in following a build thread for this plane?

Just finishing one up myself. It's a great kit especially if you like to build. I worked on the cockpit this weekend, while I waited on the glass to setup on the control surfaces. What are you planning to power it with?

Do you have any build photos? What does your weigh? I will power it with ..., wait for it .... way for it .... with a DS-94 HST DSM 6745-700 which puts out 130N or 29 pounds of thrust. I have the smaller DS-77 HST in my 28 pound Panther and it flies it with authority and better than scale performance. It puts out 19 pounds of thrust.

I do have some, mostly on my cell phone. I have not weighed it. I am building it for a customer in Louisana, his will be powered by a JC Titan. I'm certainly not knocking the choice of electric, I have been enjoying an electra for 4 years now, and once I finish this I'm building a BVM F-16 with an EVF 3.

Wow Kirk, that sounds very interesting.... DIdn't know that ammount of thrust was available on electric power.
How many watts does that system pulls? what would be your battery configuration?
I fly an electra with a EVF3 and it is awesome. Also have a bunch of flights on one of my dad's F86's (not the top gun one of course ) and it is a really sweet plane. So the combination must be great.
Good luck with your project

As far as battery configuration, I plan to do the initial flights using the 14 cell Thunder Power 65C 7700mAh packs (3 x 4cell packs + 2cell pack). After a few flights I'll be able to better judge on the capacity needed to get 5 minute or more flights. I'm using these packs in my Panther.I have the 1stversion of theDS-77 HST and it pulls 160A (8.5 kW) at full throttle but about 1/2 that at cruise. After a 4 minute flight, I've been putting back an average of 3600mAh, which is just under 1/2 the capacity of the packs.

You gotta love UPS. My F-86 arrived at the local facility at 1:21 AM this morning but UPS will not deliver it until Monday and they won't let me pick it up until they've made at least 1 delivery attempt []
