Powerbox cockpit SRS
Hi guys,
I'm thinking of getting one of these units for my project and was wondering how many of you chaps are using them and how are they performing? They look a great piece of kit, does the sequencer work well?

RE: Powerbox cockpit SRS
Hi Martin,
I have 4 in my jets - love it. Standard PB quality!
Great not to have 28 patch leads, nice to be free to assign the channel numbers, great to monitor frame loss etc.
To be honest, I haven't used the sequencer in a model (played with it on the bench tho and it is very powerful) as I've had a draw full of sequencers/valves to get through!
Rgds,
Mark

Although we have only sold around a dozen, so far they have been fine (there was an early update that needed on the first units)
regards
Dave

I probably have one of the earlier ones. What does the update consist of? I was just about to put it in an F4 and I don't want trouble.

We have sold loads of Competition SRS's and they are perfect (same no seq)

Glad you said that Dave, I just aquired a s/h Comp SRS without instructions and have assumed they are the same as the Cockpit sans sequencer.
Nice to have it confirmed and probably why there are none to download from PB website!
Gary.

Its better to be silent and people wonder if you are a fool, than speak and prove it....
They don't do a Spekky Cockpit!?

Ok - but it's a cockpit, as to where it receives it's signal from makes little difference (unless you want to have another long, boring, futile RCU argument). The cockpit works well for me.
I'm also confused here - http://www.powerbox-systems.com/e/po...-srs/start.php states:
'Spektrum with four satellites, Futaba with two S-Bus receivers, Multiplex with two M-Link receivers, Jeti with two satellites' - so that means Spektrum built in doesn't it? I may well be wrong but it's implied here.

RE: Powerbox cockpit SRS
Guys excuse my ignorance but what exactly does this system do in the areas of adding additional channels? I have an 11x with a 1221 rx. I need about 3 more channels and was thinking of matchboxes.
I read about some of the other Benny's with this unit and I like it. Can it increase channels in such a way that the channel retains its full functionality?
Pete

RE: Powerbox cockpit SRS
Pete, there are 4 channels which you can pair up and program the 2nd output, this means that you can say take the second rudder socket and use it for steering thus saving a channel. The end points and direction can be programmed via the Powerbox rather like a matchbox.

RE: Powerbox cockpit SRS
Thanks,
So you mean 4 Channels in addition to 12? 16 total? So this system operates as a receiver?? It takes the place of an RX? It comes/works with JR satelittes? I see a pic up top with this unit and the RX. Is this necessary?
Thanks, Pete

RE: Powerbox cockpit SRS
Pete,
No. It has 12 channels. As was mentioned, whereas you might currently have channel A for rudder and channel B for nose steering, you can use one of the 4 Dual Output ports (say channel 4) and plug the rudder in port 1 and nose steer in port 2. That's 2 servos in one channel port. You can then program end points/direction etc of the nose steer to work with your rudder thus "saving" 1 channel.
You could use 1 Dual port for both elevators and another for ailerons and the last for flaps - that way you can effectively save 4 channels if you normally have each servo going to an RX port.
You need RXs to attach to the SRS. Either the Futaba SBus, Spekky, Jeti or MPX.
There are no patch leads like on non SRS units. Just 1 lead to the unit from each RX
Futaba uses 2 RX, the others I think can use up to 4.
Rgds,
Mark

Only spectrum can use up to 4 Rx (sattelites), all other brands are 2 Rx maximum. That mean 4 antennas to be placed correctly and in different places... Enough.

OK, well I did say I 'think'
In case you miss in the manual - Futaba RXs must plug in RX ports 1 and 4 only....
