Who makes the best F-16?
I've done a lot of research over the past few months, but it's not clear to me who makes the best Falcon, or at least which one(s) to stay away from. This is regardless of size. Specify which size you are talking about in the case of a manufacturer that has multiple sizes. Your thoughts and opinions? (Preferably based on experiences.)
Here are the ones I'm aware of:
1. Skymaster
2. Yellow Aircraft
3. Global Jet Club (Jet Legend?)
4. Jet Legend
5. Fei Bao
6. Tamjets
7. Avonds
8. Scale Jets

RE: Who makes the best F-16?
I've owned F-16s from Fei Bao, Tam, and Skymaster.
Skymaster is the best F-16 I've owned. The plane flies great and is well engineered. The gear are a work of art.
Tam's F-16 is small, but flies great is well built. This was my first jet and it handled all the trials and tribulations of a n00b jet pilot.
Fei Bao's plane flew great and after many flights I never had a problem with the plane. I used Matrix gear, so I can't comment on Fei Bao's gear.
Avond's F-16: A friend of mine has one and it is durable and flies well.
Jet Legend/Global Jet Club: Good reputation and support, but it doesn't have as many scale details as Skymaster and Fei Bao.
FEJ's F-16: When I was looking into this plane a number of owners steered me away with horror stories. Maybe it's been improved, but I don't know anyone with extensive time on one to offer useful feedback on it.

RE: Who makes the best F-16?
The Avonds model looks pretty nice, has anyone ever had problems working with them or getting parts in a timely manner? Working with someone in Belgium makes me a little nervous. Is there a US dealer? Their F-15 looks nice too...
The Scale Jets model is crazy. A little too big and expensive for me, but very impressive.
Skymaster seems to be getting a lot of support, and plenty of US dealer presence.

the quality between my FEJ F-16 that i picked up shortly after they came on market and Fenderbean's is like night and day, mine was absolute garbage, the quality on his is up to par it just needs some air time on it to see how it holds up.

RE: Who makes the best F-16?
PA is without doubt the best flying mid size F16. I have had 3 throughout the years. I just sold my last one after flying it foe about 7 years. It is simple, easy to build, very light (21#) , and durable. Many times i would slow down, slowly add up elevator and increase power until I had full up elev and then fly it around with rudder only. Top end its about 160 (per PA recommendation). One can be framed up in about a week. Scale or sport gear both available. PA is great to work with. Parts and support are quick. Have had 7 PA jets throughout the years...more than any other manufacturer.....for a reason..his jets fly great and service is superior. Get one, you will love it. 2 Rafales, 3 F-16s, F-104,, F-15 (composite)

Of all of the models people have mentioned here, the Avonds seems to require the most construction, but you say its simple so that's encouraging. I don't have a dedicated work shop in my current house unfortunately, but I think I could temporarily convert an extra room for construction and have a buddy do the painting. My construction skills are intermediate I'd say.I haven't built anything in years, but I used to build very large high powered rockets (7.5" diameter, 17ft long for example) that flew 600+mph to 5-15,000ft, so I think I could figure this out?
The size of the Avonds F-16 is nice too, bigger than the 1:8 scale models, but about 12 inches shorter than the 1:6 scale models.
I'm figuring that the Avonds will be about $2k more than 1:8 scale such as the Skymaster, which seems like a pretty good deal, but $4k less than the Skymaster 1:6 scale. Here is a spreadsheet I made of a few models discussed here and the various costs. This is just an estimate, so things might be a little off: docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc

The price for the Avonds F16 is €2300 or $3129. That is with scale gear and without shipping. The $ to € conversion is a killer.

Hi,
I guess it all depends on what your parameters are. For P-60 size, or EDF, I'd say ours is.
You can't argue with its looks or its design. Flies awesome and it's easy to transport in a very small car!

I have had 2 Skymaster 1:6 F-16, amazing plane, lokks good and flies great, for teh smaller size the PA is great.
I have seen the FB and FEJ F-16's and I wasn't impressed, also the SM undercarriage must be one of the best ever.
I also have a dream about the Scale Jets, but I simply don't have the space or car for it!!
I have had 2 1:8 scale F-16s' as well, the larger they are, the better they fly!

The Avonds is going to be about $4k less (33%) than the Skymaster 1:6, its a nice "inbetween" size, and everyone here raves about Philip and his company. The Avonds might get even cheaper if I use something like the new Jetcat P100-RX vs the P140-RX, which seems to be borderline too much power. The 100 is super light too (2.37lbs), so Icould really shove it back in the airframe, leaving more space in the mid section for other goodies.
The major downside of the Avonds for me is the fact that it requires some construction that would be a bit of a hassle for me to pursue. Time is a bit of an issue because I have my own company. I don't have a dedicated workshop or the necessary tools etc to do a proper glassing job, and I'd rather not make that investment. I'm going to check with Avonds to see if they'd maybe be willing to make the kit a little more ARF for me, by at least getting the glassing out of the way. I have a buddy locally that has been air brushing all kinds of models for years, so painting shouldnt be a problem.

It is a good deal, and I'd love to have it, but I think I'm going to start with something smaller and less complicated!Just getting it here from Belgium and then sources all of the components necessary might be a headache. I'm not patient enough for that.
