RE: Yellow F22 Build
Bob I cant wait for KYjets! With sean going now and I hope to drag Hoser with me should be great fun! I need your help on Hoser still trying to twist his arm lol.
Thnx George. BTW what Fittings did you use on your main fuel tanks on your raptor? I have the stock ones that look like Dubro with the double brass tubes. I am trying to change it out to a singel line going out with vents like on the BVM fittings. Does dreamworks have anything that can adapt something like the BVM style fuel tank fitting into a dubro sized hole?

Kris,
I don't remember what mine has, but Dave may be able answer since he built it. I'm 99% sure mine has the two brass tubes in the stopper.
Dave,
Can you help?
Here are a few options for you Kris.

Kris,
Nice progress on the F22! Man, that plane has 9-lives!...or more!
I think the first link George posted should do the trick unless the current hole in your tank is larger.
I believe BVM offers laser cut adapter rings to add the BVM tank hardware to SM Kevlar tanks.
The adapters can be used on other manufacturers tanks as well. They don't list it but I'm sure can provide details over the phone.
Just scuff and clean the surface well and bond with hysol and you should be fine. The other option is to use your current cap but don't have any lines exit it and just install the BMV hardware fresh next to it.
Congrats on your Top Gun invitation, you've earned it!

George,
What is the max hole size in the bare tank that this fitting's flange will accomodate without falling into the tank?

RE: Yellow F22 Build
Thanks George.
It looks like the airpower one will fit inside of the machined ring on the yellow tanks. So I will be picking those up soon. Also adding another vent so each main tank has its one vent. I don't want to give this new engine any excuse to flame out lol.
Made some progress on the main inner doors today. Once I got started it was not to bad. I only got one done so far. I hope to have the patience to do the other over the weekend.

George,
I think I used the supplied Yellow stopper/brass tubing although I changed the bolt for compression of the stopper. I made it an allen head screw so it could be checked/tightened without taking the tank out etc. Never had a problem with it and didnt observe any leaks either.
Have you flown it some more?
Dave

Gunn,
When I build mine, will you paint it for me?

Don't forget that Kris puts in a least a dozen flights between each coat of color and between each scale detail! It will have 50-75 flights on it by the time you get it back....but it will fly and look awesome!!

Shaun I would be horned to paint your bird. But to be honest I never considered my self to be much of a painter . But we can talk. When are you going to start building one?
Dave I got to take your old bird for a spin at FLjets and it was sweeeet. I would have no problem buying any plane you have built.
Time to start working on the opening canopy.......

A few pics from FL jets.
All taken by David Hart!
In one pic I almost hit Barrys JL F22 when he lands and I have a flame out and try to land while he was still on the runway. My nose gear still is not even down from hitting the gear switch after the flame out. All is well and no damage to the aircraft but was pretty close lol.
The other pic you can see how I weatherd it under the engines pretty heavy like the real bird.

Really love that weathering! Looks like the real thing!
Edit: Question please, re the latest camouflage scheme, are you still using the "Aluminium + Metallic Grey" enamel paint to achieve the colors?

RE: Yellow F22 Build
Sorry didn't see your question till now.
Yes I am using aluminum (2 parts) mixed with graphite metallic (a little less then 1part). For the dark color its the opposite mixture. Then the edges I used navy aggressor grey.
Canopy update. Its about done! I was dead set on installing the air cylinder to raise the canopy in the scale location. Well this is a very bad place for one because you don't get much leverage. But I got it to work. I also dremmeld the scale fake actuator that comes with the kit and glued it around the air cylinder to make it more scale looking. I only have one channel left and I don't have the money for a sequencer so I installed a BVM airswitch. When the canopy is down it hits the switch and another air cylinder locks the canopy. For the hinge I bought a aluminum robart offset hinge. Was a challenge but came out great.
Some pics and a video of the canopy.

RE: Yellow F22 Build
Ok back on the fuel system. Time to go through it all and check everything and make sure I dont have anymore flame outs! Also git ready for installing a big block
First pic is how I had it installed before. Both main tanks went into a T and then into the hopper tank and UAT.
I have installed new vent fittings from dreamworks on the hopper tank so both main tanks feed into it at the same time. No more T fitting. I also got rid of the T fitting for the fuel tank vents. Will run dual vents now. Changed all the fuel lines to 6MM and got rid of the Tygon. I hope this will lower the pressure on the suction side.
Last pic is everything hooked up. I then filled the system and attached my fueling station to the Pump inlet line. Sucked the fuel system all the way down with no airbubbles so looks good to go. I also submerged and pressurized the system to double check for leaks and all looks good. Now this will all go back into the plane.

Thanks Kris for the camo paint guidance. Will be trying it out on my plastic scale model to get the blend correct.
Great reference too on the fuel system, Kudos. Keep 'em coming!

Gunn,
Nice work! Here's how I did it. Not as scale, but it worked great. This video shows the first test, and I did get the action slower.

Shawn I was going to copy yours but was unable to make the angle right for the hinges and I wanted the air cyclinder in the scale location. Yours is what made me want to do mine.
I will have a kingtech 170 next week to drop into the 22 !!!!
I also installed a small landing light on the nose gear. The canopy is done and working great.
Next weekend is an event at my home field. This will be perfect practice for topgun. Will try and get some video with the 170.
