RE: Yellow F22 Build
Dave thanks for all the help today.
For only my second and 3rd flight with a turbine plane I took it pretty easy. All went very well. Its a great plane and cant wait to get more time flying it. Both flights I only used up half the fuel. Doing EDF for so long its hard to fly longer then 5 mins with out getting worried lol.
The gear and doors where flawless. Really the entire plane performed perfect.
Had a nasty crosswind and the temps where in the 40s and 50s during the video. Wind was about 15 mph in a 90 degree crosswind. It was enough that I and only 2 others where even at the feild flying.

I will get some better video after I get the plane dialed in. Also the plane has a ton of roll coupling on the rudders in knife adge and it will take a few more flights to get that dialed in.
The markings should be here anyday.

Congratulations Gunradd on your maiden. Look forward to seeing your complete scale finishing done with that unique Raptor sheen in place.
I just received my own kit over the weekend but some parts still on backorder. I look forward to learning from your building and painting experience.

RE: Yellow F22 Build
Well done Kris from this side of the pond
welcome to the club of one of the best flying models around
Had two further flights with mine on Saturday at a local plastic model show held at a full size aircraft museumwhere we do a lunch time display of a range of RC aircraft. About three to four hundred people came out from the warm museum and were watching for 2hrs on a cold 34f day.
I had the pleasure of getting a number of audible wows from the crowd whenflying my F22. The best was on take off.
My routine starts with take off stay low wheels up let speed build then straight up into a vertical climb with two rollsthe last rolls off the top back down wind for 3/4 throttle high speed past into tight 360 turn. Certainly gets the crowds attention. Also starting to explore thrust vectoring more, for the show I just did tight loop flips. 1/3 throttle into wind pass, pull to vertical, vector switched in, throttle to 1/2 pull hard tight flip and fly out horizontal in direction of travel.
Good rest of routine and perfect landings, what a great plane
Once again thanks Shaun and Yellow aircraft

Yay!!
Yeah, that thing looks like an underpowered dog on the fly-by's..... That just proves that you don't need a monstrous engine to get monstrous performance. The other cool thing is watching you taxi out and comparing that to watching your F-16 taxi out on the same taxi-way. You can really see how the Raptor dwarfs the F-16. You fly it very nicely, too. Congrats!
Ian,
Thanks again for the kind words. Did you get your tires?

Hi. Super biuld ,and flight. I did my F-16 canopys gold. Bvm trick} I used RITS DYE FROM WALL MART. I MIXED ORANGE AND YELLOW. Then heated some water on the stove. Just to the point were you could not hold your finger in it. {hi-teck}.. put canopy in the water. Rolled it around with wooden spoon {that is also tinted now}. Leave in in about ,1 minute.Take it out ,check how much tint you like. If happy ,run cold wate on it to set the DYE. Can you tell me what, AIRFIOL, in on you F-22?

Lotta love this jet...my takeoff profile is rotate..continue to pull until vertical then watch it accelerate going straight up until I cant stand it anymore. If you have seen a Raptor's normal departure you are amazed om how fast it accelerates....just like the model. Mine is Rhino signature series powered.....wonder what a Mammoth would do?

gunradd, you can be my wing man any time.
You're my kind of a pilot. Takeoff - fly it liket there won't be a second flight. You got skills brotha!
Not only that, you proved you don't need an overpowered airframe to have fun.
kudos,
David

All that time on this sticks shows...your first two flights showed a lot of confidence. Once you get this dialed in we are all in for a treat.

RE: Yellow F22 Build
Well work continues.........
Its slow going getting all the little details done.
I got the dry transfers from Tailormade and they look great. But they are not transferring. I even tried them on a different surface to make sure it was not the paint on the plane and no matter what I am having a very hard time getting them to transfer. I used a heat gun and covering iron and they help some but not much. I have tried different clears under the decals and still same result. I was able to get a few on the plane with a ton of pressing and massaging.
Tailormade has a new set to me on the way and I hope the first batch I got was just a bad set. Ralle from Tailormade has been great and I am sure we will get it figured out.
I also got the little part in front of the inflight refuel doors painted. Was a little tedious but got it done. Did some light weathering on the top also and used some dull coat clear on it. For the panel lines I did not want to just grab a sharpie and over due the lines. The real raptor does show its lines but with the RAM coating on them they are not very noticeable. I used a graphite black artist pencil to do the lines and I feel they came out pretty good. Not to much but you can tell they are their.

RE: Yellow F22 Build
Well I just made a few posts that didnt work thanks to RCU not working!
After having a very hard time getting the markings to stick I tried one more trick. I shot some imron clear coat and let it sit over night so it was tacky in the morning and then applied the markings and it worked. What a pain in the ***** these markings where......
A few pics out side.
I still have a few more markings to put on. I also bumped the horzintal stab and quickly found out it likes to scratch the vertical stab. So I made a little foam pocket to slide on the stabs during transportation.
