Well, this looks nothing like the Hurricane but definitely like the Sheliak.

Redwings is the original manufacturer of the earlier version of "Sheliak" that was no longer in the market. I owned one of them before. This Gryphon seems to have better paint schemes and quality of construction. The biggest difference while comparing to other ARF is the composite materials. The fuselage and wings are all made of full Airex vacuum bagged construction. They cost more to manufacture but they are tough, light and rigid. We are evaluating the overall performance, quality and price indices to determine it's worth in the USA market. We were looking for a sport jet that looks more like a plane and easy enough in the beginner's hands and yet can fly very well similar to other major brands that cost 2 times as much. Of course there are some cheaper version from Asia factories, but we are Global Jet, so our goal is to bring out the best from around the world regardless of the origin. I am more than happy to order an Italiano pasta that costs 2 times more than a Chinese noodle soup as long as it tastes good.

Dennis,

Your a one, ''Bit too much I recon'' - recon for what!

On what grounds do you base your pearly wisdom my friend?

marcs

Just my view. I am sure others will have their views also. I believe that it is possible to make a value judgement on anything compared to anything else and in my view £1400 for a base model suggesting that you could possibly get as high as say £1750 if per chance you perhaps wanted a bit of paint on it for example is I feel IMHO too much for a new kid on the block in terms of toy planes. The fact that it is from the land of pasta and guys with over active wedding tackle dont make it any thing more than a piece of fiberglass and resin. I saw an advert for a Peageot 107 today for £6995 on the road........ That is about 2.0 of these complete and flying......... Dont seem right to me. I can hear the sound of people crying Apples with Apples any moment now

Still as I said I am sure there are those that will be happy to pay the price. To each their own.

Again I am no friend of Modelbau USA but this does look rather like the Huricane which I suspect will be released at probably a third of the price of the Gyphon. Italian made or China made no difference to me Just fibergalss and resin at least they wont rust like the Alfa's did

Best of luck and I am sure those at the top end of the hobby will buy them

Dennis
I don`t know you but i think you should be banned from these forums or at least rename you to Denise ''the meance'' Go get a life for gods sake.Gbr jets plus a couple of other uk companies are forward thinking and want to offer a product of quality.Go stick with your bomerangs or flycat/hicat or what ever you want to call them if you want cheap airframes.Value is in the eye of the beholder.

Yes and we are all entitled to our opinion and also marc did ask me for mine if you read above. Thanks for yours. If people come onto these boards promoting a product I feel that it is important that others give their honest opinion both good and bad that way they can judge how best to proceed. As for not knowing me well you just might actually

What are you saying about Boomerangs apart from the fact that it is probably the most successful sports trainer ever made

Also as far as value is concerned I did indeed behold the item in question and put 'my value' on it. Others will do the same including you. Unlike you however many will simply keep stum and no one will ever get the possibility to consider those views

Boomerangs (apart from the torus) are alot cheaper, thats all I meant. Most Jets available are in the £1000-£2000 price bracket,so this new jet is well placed and I`m sure the quality will be extreamly high.

There are many jets well below £1000 and for a new jet on the market that is surely untested £1400 for the base price (Whatever that means) is quite high in my opinion. I am not sure what the current price of a CARF Flash is but I fear this plane will be up in that price bracket. Surely that cant be right. But the true test will be how it sells and for Marc I hope it sells well

For those with a desire to keep it simple the Gryphon will be available in plain colours, still painted outside the mould and fully de-seamed.

I have asked for a plain airframe and when this arrives I will look to design a small range of decal schemes the owner can apply easily to achieve a 'finished' look which is flexible to change over time.

Schemes are a tricky thing to come up with so HELP is needed - Let me have your ideas, as wacky or straight as you like, final three chosen will receive a free CAT (my composite air trap) in any size they like for their next turbine project

Pics of plain colours......

Marc,

My main concern with this model is a lack of access [8D]

Yes I know you said you had issues with your 'fugly' having almost non existent access -

So Milky what about a scheme from you, your churn of kits must warrant a CAT or 10

LOL Alex, although i'm betting Milky will come up with a 'Monster' scheme for this one

The yellow model looks like the paint is Lambo Pearlrescent, which is a great colour to base a scheme on.

We now have 4 of these beauties in stock for testing and demos. We will test one with P100 and the other with the new Merlin 100 engine. I must say that the most important difference is the finish and the seamless decals. You cannot feeldecal edgesat all. Lots of carbon used. Mainly around the main wing spar which is important.

Hey Marc...

Just forward the blank one to me. I'll do it up in a GBR Jets and A&L Motorsports theme.

Even made you a template to help along the way.
