Default Paritech 5m DG303 Turbine glider

Hi Guys,
I've just got my 5m DG303 set up with a Wren Supersport.
I mounted the turbine on the supplied mount and I find approximately 4-5 deg of right thrust . It looks significant when viewed from the rear or the top.
This seems to be built into the mount probably to save the vertical fin from the jet blast.
Im not sure whether my assumption is correct -
Anybody have any experience with this ??
Will it cause a lot of yaw ?
Im attaching some pics from the front and rear

I flew one of my Airworld Ask 21's with this set up on the turbine, and have to say it looked strange, but I did not notice any great yaw tendency under power. I set my next one up with the turbine straight and it flew pretty much the same. The only noticeable difference was the heat discolouration to the leading edge of the fin I have seen quite a few of the European guys with this angled set up so it must be intentional. I would go with it and see if you can feel a difference as you apply power from low to high quite quickly. Then maybe, if you feel to. Make a P mix throttle to rudder of a few percent.
Regards Al

Hi Xantos, any chance of some flight video's on this bird?? After watching Als larger Ask 21 at Jets over Pampa, Ive often thought of a smaller version for my SuperSport, would be really interested to see the performance.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Jame

Yes Xantos, leave your new sail boat alone for some time and get going with the test flight of the DG.

Chatty.

Xantos, that's pretty wild. Does it retract like the HP304 Shark.?

Xantos, do you have any picts showing the mount to the fuse? I would like to try one of these. Does anyone have any picts of their set ups? What are some other good birds that would accept a similar turbine for a 5 meter? Like the swept vertical stabilizer on the Fox.

Thanks
Eric

OK Guys ,
Finally its test flown yesterday , all I can say is this ones a keeper !!
It flies just perfect , oodles of power from the supersport , the 1.3L fuel tank that I salvaged from a crashed bandit works perfectly.
This is the first time Ive used spoilers and Im just astounded by how they work.
For landing I flew in a clean config (no flap) and just popped the spoilers on short finals and the plane that otherwise floated the lenght of the runway stopped at my feet

congrats... looks good... are you going to use carbon wingtips? to avoid the grazing off the tarmac? you need to come here to fly this one though...

Congrats on the first flights Xantos. Paritech make some of the best scale gliders out there and the DG300 has been on my wanted list for some time. I have question though. Do you tink that a Supersport could be made to fit internally in this gider. Having the engine stuck outside doesn't stop it being fun, but it will degrade it's glide performance and I would like to have my cake and eat it. So making the engine retractable could be an intersting option if it will fit. Oh and I have a Supersport doing nothing right now......

Congrats on the Maiden Xantos, looks really great, this ones been on my list for a while too John, always wanted a smaller scale Turbine Glider after seeing some of Als displays, can we expect one to roll up at Elvington over the next few months John If so, I may let you jump before advertising the Flash

Kind Regards

HIXantos
Now thats a really nice Turbine Sailplane. Maybe you can tell us a little more indepth set up on it. Would be interested. Any kind of problems you had to go around to get it right? What kind of speed can you put on it before the wings could give? Is there a stall rate?

Hi Jame,
Well as you may well know I have been into scale gliders fdor a long time, more than 40 years. I have been intending to do a turbine glider for a very long time but I just have not had the time. I would really like the big Paritech DG303 at almost 1/2 scale, but as well as being an expensive luxury, It really is too big for my car and my home.
Who knows, If I could build this model with an engine that can be tucked away, and then restarted in the air, it could be really intersting.
See ya,

John

John,
The 5m DG303 is a little small to have the turbine retract into the fuse, especially with the supersport .
With the Supersport you need at least 1lit of fuel and the tank if placed on or near the CG will takke up too much place wher ethe turbine is too be retracted .
Paritech claims the 5m DG flies even with a P20 or kolibri or Wren 44 Gold, maybe the 44could be made to retract inside.

If it can fly with the P20 then i think the new Merlin 35 would be an excellent choice when its out.

Chatty.

Hi Xantos, Yes this is what I suspected. IF I could make a rectractable engined DG303, I would get a carbon D box version of the glider. Of course a P20 would launch this glider, but the SS would provide really ballistic performance. Being a card carrying hooligan this appeals to me. Like I say, I have a SS sat in a drawer. I may just get one anyway. I spend a lot of time flying scale gliders.
Enjoy yours.

John
