Any kind of on/off switch required for Electron retracts or does the control unit operate as a on/off switch . I'm wondering if they deplete the batteries with the airplane turned off.

The control unit acts itself as a switch as it turns off when the receiver is switched off so that no current drain occurs.
I really like how the system has been designed as the retracts have their own battery connected to the control unit (2S or 3S lipo) and the control unit is connected to the receiver with only 2 cables, one for gear input and one for rudder input. When electric brakes will be available later this year a third cable will be used for barke input.
The control unit automatically switches off rudder (and brake) input when gear is retracted and no adjustments have to be made, just connect the cables and you're done!
Maybe the possibility of programming a delay for each retract would have been nice, but not possible for now.
The ER-50 units are very strong and lift the heavy Behotec legs without any difficulty: [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaUOcrqu02o&context=C3168462ADOEgsToPDskJ4ZAs9M3Uk5mURbBl573OT]ER-50 and Behotec legs[/link]

Can anyone confirm if the direct steer versions would fit on a Skymaster F-18C?

Pro version is coming with programable gear delays.
