Hi fifou,
I was in Singapore yesterday, but exchange rate SGD vs Euro was at only 1,61 (usually soaring around 2,05).
Is very bad news for European shoppers...
How much did Johny's shop charge for a 18mz ?
Nicolas.

Somebody shoot me! I just pulled the trigger and walked in the door w/ my new 18MZ!!!
This thing is awesome!... the rx is tiny though? I thought I was missing something? The funny thing is, I've been JR/Spektrum now for yrs!...
I feel like a kid on Xmas morning...

I made the jump from JR to Futaba. My 18MZ arrived! It feels a lot lighter than my old 14mz. It'll take some adjustment to get use to the programming after years of using the 12X.

A question to the list. Can one change the language of the radio? Let's say that one buys the radio from Germany, can one change the language to English than?

Thanks

Yes, the system has 8 different languages (if memory serves me correctly).

Can the user change the Language?????????? On the info screen it states the language but have found no where it can be changed.

Must it be changed at a service center??

Yes it arrived here as well indeed

Very sad to let go of the 14MZ but very happy to hold the 18MZ

The difference in weight is only 64g (around 2oz) but the 18 feels much lighter

Really fast menu, transfered the models from the 14 to the 18 very easily with a USB stick

The R7008SB Rx is really small and weighs only 11g!!!

Hard to believe that this Rx can control tens of thousand of $$$$ in the air

Anyone knows what the real difference between SBUS and SBUS2 is? Are there any real differences?

Are most of you guys using SBUS servos? If not, what's your experience with the decoders been like?

Do you still have to use the Futaba decoder with the Powerbox? Does the Powerbox replace the SBUS hubs?

dubd I have the same question, it appears to have the decoder function built in.

A second question, does the 18MZ support the MPDX-1?

UI is nearly identical to the 14MZ, so there was a lot of data available to you before you made the purchase.

Default RE: FUTABA 18MZ HAS ARRIVED

I just got my 18MZ a couple of days ago. I think I am really going to like this radio.
I have flown with strictly JR radios since about 1994, but decided to switch back to Futaba (that's what I used in the 80's and early 90's) because JR seems to have fallen way behind on innovation for the higher end radios.
This will be my first 2.4Ghz radio (yes, I was still flying with a fishing pole antenna just last weekend ). I have been biding my time and watching to see which manufacturer's equipment seemed to be the most reliable. From my observations Futaba seems to have won this battle as well.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the instruction manual seems to be pretty well written and easy to understand. I've read many reports about the instructions for some of Futaba's other radios being less than helpful, and I am certain that the instructions that come with Futaba gyros were originally written by a adolescent Martian geek then translated to English by an electrical engineer with absolutely no people skills. The manual for the 18MZ appears to be very encompassing and mostly understandable. Good job!

I do have a couple of questions though.

1. The instructions for connecting the "extra voltage" to the receiver say "Don’t connection to Extra Voltage before
turning on a receiver power supply"
[sic] Does this mean that if I want to connect the ECU battery I will need to unplug it from the receiver before switching off receiver power, and only plug it back in after the receiver is powered up? I guess I could install a switch just on that small wire, but I'd rather not if I don't have to.

2. On page 31 of the manual it shows pictures of two different Sbus hubs, one with a green connector for "another power supply" and one with an orange connector when not using a separate power supply. The only Sbus hubs I have seen for sale are the ones with orange connectors. Is there a difference between the two hubs (other than connector color)? If so, what would happen if you plugged an additional power source into one of the ports of a orange connector hub? Are the green connector hubs available?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Mine arrives tomorrow.  I do have a couple of questions though.  Are the telemetry sensors available?  Who is selling them?

If anyone cares the 18MZ does not support the MPDX-1, bummer,

So I assume any 12+2 radio supports the MPDX-1(s), that configuration provides up to 26 proportional and 2 switched channels.

Sorry for the aside.

Hi Matt.

I believe it will support the MPDX-1 module but in FASST mode only.

Doug.

P.S. FASST mode is the only mode you can use the R6014HS receiver need it for the MPDX module using the 2 Digital channels.
