Default Classic Jets.

Hoping there will be a few Ultra Flash flying, unable to attend myself but would appreciate if anyone has the time to video the various UF landings. Just to compare the approaches people are using.

TIA

Shame you can't make it chaps...promises to be a good event!

150 rock buns made fresh this morning (house smells gorgeous!), 300 thick slices of lean back bacon in the fridge, 150 Bockwurst bangers in jars, 20 loaves of bread, 150 dog rolls, 12 Kilos of sweets ready for the off and just abt to start loading the vans! My missus is in the middle of chopping up 25Kilos of onions (I did offer, well, almost! :-) ). We won't starve if owt else!

Looking fwd to seeing everyone there - a nice bit of respite after Xmas!

Cheers,

Dick

Well done Dick or should I say Mrs. Spreadbury. Right in the middle of a massive winter build period but hoping to make the Spring meet, hope the weather gods work their magic for tomorrow.

Long as you have room for my stuff Dave, I don't mind!

Ron...you've been here on pre-jet meet day...the smell of rock buns is even sweeter than the onions! Hope you had a great Xmas mate and look fwd to seeing you at the JMA AGM.

Rob, thanks...the weather's always a bit of a lottery this time of year (well, all year really) but I think the weather's secondry to just getting out of the house at the moment...have had 25 more come in since the cancellation on 16th! My weather God Andy Aldridge assures me we'll be OK!

Cheers,

Dick

Ultra Flash Landings

Getting away from food, is anyone available to give advice on UF landings? I have a UF awaiting my first flight and might bring it, if there was good advice to be had on landing. It looks as though it might rain in the afternoon, so I suspect we will pushed to get all the flying and all the eating we had in mind.

I am just charging my ultra flash as I type, and all being well. It will be one of the jets I am sure to fly tomorrow regardless of weather. You ( and anyone else ) are more than welcome to join me on the flight line, and I will happily run a bunch of circuits and touch and goes ( pattern allowing) and talk you through some approaches if you like? I am also more than happy to assist if you want to run through on a buddy box set up. ( Once again applies to anyone attending, just ask) I may look busy but its only playing with my toys, and I can do that pretty much any weekend, so feel free to ask.
Regards Al
Finding it hard to believe even birds will be flying in the gale thats blowing outside, although XC weather is giving gentle winds for the oxfordshire area for tomorrow!

I suspect there will be a whole bunch of us wanting to get their UF landings up to the mark. It is very generous of you and I will follow your example and get mine on charge as of now! See you all tomorrow.

Enjoy all, unfortunately the revised dates were not favourable with a family event - fingers crossed for the weather and safe flying all.

Oh brilliant, are you taking the SU27 tomorrow? I would really like to take you up on your kind offer and attempt a bunch of touch and goes with that bird. Don't worry because a mate of mine tells me that the bigger they are the easier they are to fly.

I'll find you on the flight line tomorrow rain or shine.

Thanks very much
Jason Fletcher.

See what you've started Al...it's gonna cost me to bring bouncers in to stop those two fighting now!!!

My weather Guru called earlier and confirmed the light-ish winds...prob being they are going to veer and whichever runway we use, it'll be x-wind at some point...which shouldn't bother REAL pilots anyway! :-)

As daylight is short atm, I intend doing pilots briefing bang on 1000...so either be there early or if you come in late, come and see me before you fly to get the brief.

Cheers,

Dick

Only sorry I can't be there due to family commitments. Was planning to take the MBA Tornado and F86-D Dog Sabre along. There's always the spring meet. Offer still stands for 10% off store prices for those attending.

Dick,

Thanks again for a great event. I disappear back off to the US tomorrow, so it worked nicely to get out, catch up with everyone, get a few flights and scoot off a little early

Let me be the first to congratulate Steve Elias online on yet another birthday. I'd love to say he doesn't look a day over 75 but I'd be lying

Thanks to DW for babysitting my BARF while I'm off on my travels again.

Many many thanks to Dick and team for yet another great Classic Jets ! Although Mr Aldridge might want to reconsider his position as weather god there was still a very good turnout - probably the best I've seen for a CJ winter meet and plenty of flying was done.

Really nice to catch up with everyone and I think much fun and japery was had by all. As usual quite a few maidening new models which is always good to see. Steve Roberts new Der Jet Cougar looked lovely and of course Andrew Baileys new Boomerang Exige in the Swiss scheme was beautiful . Didn't have much time for pics as always seemed to be flying or gassing but here are a few...

Back in office drying stuff out...but great day, company and flying all things considered. Will post more when I get home as time short. Looks like my camera is full of shots, so we will see how many are in focus ;-)
Few from start of day...

Big thanks to Dick and his "family" Oh, and his family for cooking!

I thought so too , although Geoff said that he had real trouble with orientation with the almost all white top surfaces. He reckons I need to add some solid colour on the top. I'm struggling to see how that would work with a Swiss scheme though; anyone have any ideas? So good to see it finally flying though after the metamorphosis from EDF to GT. A very big thank you to Geoff for re-maidening it and bringing it back safely to terra firma. Can't wait to fly it myself now....

A big thank you as well to Dick and his family for all the hard work they put in to make the day so enjoyable. I think we did pretty well with the weather; back in North Wilts it rained solidly from about 10.30.

Happy New Year everyone.

Andrew

OK, home and fed.
Looking through shots, it reminded me of what a good day it was. I arrived in the morning without the normal buzz, but in the end I enjoyed the day. I test flew Frank D's HT Mirage P-20, only a reluctant nose leg spoilt the flight...nose heavy though. I also test flew Eric Smith's Elan P-100RX combo, if you look at the shots you can see he had a little too much CROW! that was interesting, but being a Ftba 14MZ user it was easier to fly as it was, until someone can reprogram the "Enterprise" and reduce it. Another flight on Richard J's Reeves Hunter sorted a few more bugs. Plus I flew my CARF Ultra Flash (what landing issues) CARF Hawk and DJ Vampire.
Little Stevie test flew his JetPower Purchase DJ Cougar and had three good flights, too busy to notice everything, but the M&R crew did a bunch of flying and CG (Boomerang Jets UK) blasted his Exige VT-80 around with his CARF Tutor as back up play thing.
Big Geoff's P-180RX powered Ultra Lightning obviously caught Tim J's attention as he muttered about having to buy a 180RX too
First pixs from me, then RCJI assistant photographer Miss Claire stole my camera...

Looking forward to CJ 50! 6th April 2012. Special day...think we might celebrate with a Mcds breakfast on the way...Oh that's right we do that every time
