RE: Large futura prep and painting
First thing tomorrow morning I will be applying the decals, painting the black on the canopy. I also need to finish off the weathering on the pylons and fuel tanks. I hope to up load lots of photos tomorrow during the progress very hour so hopefully you will see as it happens. Clear coat should be applied later on in the afternoon.
Thanks everybody for taking interest in this rebuild, I cant explain the amount of enjoyment it has given me telling everybody how to make your aircraft look something special from kits and even ARFT's just to have something different at your flying field or jet meeting.

Thats is bloody incredible mate. I had no doubt you could do it, but I never expected it to look as good as this. Dare I say it, but I think it looks better then before ( Certainly the weathering)
You have to give me some credit for this though. After all. How skilful of me was it to destroy the only two areas of the original model that neither of us were 100% happy with Saudi text looks allot better this time round ( This is where you tell me its the same size ) Looking forward to seeing the canopy ( Don't forget the fillets in the roll over bar )

You cheeky s^*, YES I have done the fillet and thank for breaking off the nose so I could change the size of the text on the nose. Yep Ralle stepped up to the mark again and increased it 20%.
I will add some photos shortly

Just showed the pics to the old boy, and he is adamant its a new model! He's just rifling through invoices now to double check
Now sure what sounds better. Frankentura or Futurastein When are we going out to do a test flight Mk2?
Regards Al

All done, all clear coated in a 75/25 satin finish, that is 25% gloss and 75% flat.
Tomorrow I will install the equipment ready for Ali to pick it up tomorrow late afternoon or evening. Ali has said that he will be taking her to classic jets #50 but is unsure to test fly her there, I think this time he will be taking his time and checking and double checking everything.

That's it all done, clear coat went on as planed and just need to leave her over night to go off one hundred percent before I re-install the engine and radio equipment.
These photo's are of the finished fuse, I have decided not to polish the canopy and just leave satin, I think it looks ok, mind you Ali might have other views
Enjoy the last set of photo's

Truly a master at work, philip, you have done a great job, we will all learn from this thread. The only thing I do not understand is when do you sleep.
Ali, I do not think you should call it Frankentura, It should be called'' The worlds most expensive Futura''. LOL
Here are pics of a real Frankenstein.
