I tape a piece of triangle stock at the desired cg point, one under each side of the wing. I then place the plane on a couple of saw horses, bricks, or whatever works so the plane pivots on the triangle stock. For me, it's quick and easy.

Balancing used to be such a PITA until I bought this:

well i am new to the jet world , so no first hand cg comments..

but i am in middle of cg my first jet... and found this in manual.. see attachment pic ... it is modellbau Tornado ...

it does indicate weighing method is more accurate ... and gives the cg based on weight at nose wheel,,, no calcs required.

anyway, this seems easy method , just slip scale under front wheel... so i was going to just go with this method on first try.

?? question now after reading the directions again ... so "full UAT" ... does this imply do the CG with empty fuel tank then ??

it did not indicate empty or full main tank when doing CG ..

thanks

Yes your main tank should be empty of fuel but your UAT/Header tank should be full.

I have seen this weight on the nosewheel method listed before, it works yes but will only be accurate if you use the same equipment, turbine and have approx same empty weight etc as was used on the aircraft that the weight was taken from.

I set up your system in my shop today
and hung up my SM F 4 Phantom just to give me a comparison and I must say I do find it very simple to do on my own its a piece of cake no worries about a model falling

thanks for your input

Andy
