Yes, two part fuselage can be something in the future what maybe we can working on. For sure transport will be easier, because, 1/4 scale G2 is long...
Retracts plate can have holes for weight reduce. This plates, for bigger G2, I cut here in my workshop, to be sure everything fit perfect in the wing.
Now, when I know right dimensions, hole for flap servo, etc... I can made draw an cut that plates on CNC.
Laser cut is impossible, plates are thick and from hard plywood...
As I mention many times, this first models are prototypes, OK 3D drawings, bud when you see it live, you can find many places to improve design...

Thank you Ali for nice words. Comments here and likes on Facebook are great motivation for me.
Few years ago, when I start with posting projects here (Meister P 47, Ziroli Hellcat, Ziroli Panther...), my idea was to show how I build models, and I hope that someone will recognize my skill and order to build him a model.
But, story went to other way...
Because I have vinyl cutter machine I start working on my sets for scale finish, Mirce Finish set, Detail sets, rivets & screws, panel lines, etc..so my building show how nice and scale model surface can be...
I made many, many sets which was sent all around the world...
In meantime I must find new challenge for me, I love to build, so Galeb G2 project is that what preoccupies me now.
As I told many times, my idea is to show how I work on this models and hope that after successful maiden flight and flights after that be able to offer kit for this jets.
I'm sure that around the world modelers, like me, want to order and work on traditional wooden build jet model.
For now, I'm on first step in building, work on wooden parts, soon on both Galebs will be apply filler, than glass cote, filler again, details, paint and last step install set up in the model.
You can see, that I everything prepare now, because working paint model can be problem. When model have paint on surface, only work is install servos, turbine, and other systems...
Now I must again excuse on my bad English. Because that I put so many pictures. They worth 1000 words...
Few small steps and center panel will be fix on bigger G2 fuselage.
But before that, I glued last few balsa plate on the bottom side. I always try to fit parts as much it is possible, to have later less to sand and aligned...
Without glue...
Than white carpenter glue & pins...
When glue dried, sanding...
Connections are smooth, believe me, acrylic filler almost will be unnecessary.
Same was done on other side...
Here you can see wing construction, landing gear plate, balsa which give right angle and 3mm basla "skin"...
I add template for inner gear door. That door will be made from 0,5mm thin aluminum plate and operate with pneumatic cylinder.
Doors from main landing gears will be from three parts, middle will be fix on retract leg, and outer will be connect mechanical in middle door.
On surface where is just one balsa layer (3mm) I add one more plate. That edge is much stronger, without adding any weight.
Before putting center panel on fuselage, I must glue first rib of lower fuselage construction. That rib is important, because that rib leaned on fuselage. You can see, leading edge, under rib, is sand also. That give bigger reclining surface...
On rear side story is same...
Tomorrow I'll made wing saddle, install bolts and screws for center panel fixing and after that I can aligned and glue elevator.
When elevator will be in its place, next is rudder...
OK, I must leave something for next "episode"...

OK, as I wrote last time, I made and glued wing saddle on fuselage. This parts was made from 1,5 mm thin balsa, but later will come layer of glass cloth...
Hardwood plates for wing bolts was glued few weeks ago, so next step was to made holes for wing fixing bolts.
Finally I can turn around bigger G2 and set it on retracts...
Next step was to put and stick horizontal stabilizer. After measures that operation was done...
All was done same like on smaller Galeb, so I wasn't made pictures again of this process.
Rudder is same story like on 1/5 scale G2, only difference was that here I use plywood parts for servo mount. That system is same like on flaps or ailerons...
Than sanding and sanding and sanding rudder leading edge ...
Next day, other rudder side...
But, result was...

Leading edge was made on rudder moving part also and after that I install three classic hinges with shaft in the middle.
Two parts was aligned and sanded together, so transition are perfect...
When that was made I prepare rudder top. That part was roughly made on work table and than glued on the model...
Guessed what was next... Of course - sanding, first to get basic shape...
...and than with fine sand paper I smooth edges...
Finally...
And best for the end...

Because I want to made maiden flight of smaller G2 on spring next year, I must now put bigger "bird" (1/4 scale) on the side and invest all my time in building 1/5 scale G2.
Before next step - adding first filler layer on surface, I must finish all not completed work on model.
On worktable was again wing of the smaller G2...
Rudder is install as well...
...same like moving elevator parts...
All control horns are glued...

I take down all control surface and apply acrylic filler...
Surface are very good, almost that I don't need to do this operation, but...
Few days ago I got thrust tubes from Germany, from IQ Hammer. Quality is very well...
On bigger G2 putting thrust tube in fuselage was done without any problem...
... but on smaller model tube can't fit inside...
Rear fuselage side is narrow, so no space for some "operation" to made it wider.
I call IQ Hammer and ask Dietmar what can we do now. I told him many times that exhaust tube can't be wider than 95mm. They made it 95mm at rear tube side, but in front, because cone, tube is wider...
My question was if I send this tube back, will they made me new one. Answer was to not sent tube, that is gift for me, they will made me new in right dimension and sent it to me for free!!!

The process of developing such models can be divided into six phases:
- making models in wood
- adding filler and sanding
- glassing and final sanding
- applying panel lines, rivets and other details
- painting
- finally assembling
On my project, here on 1/5 scale G2, now I finish first step on every part.
Ailerons, rudder, elevator moving parts, flaps are ready for panel lines, wing is in glassing process and fuselage is on phase two...
I hope in next ten days all parts will be ready for panel lines, rivets and other details.

After acrylic filler on wing next was Body 360 filler. It is stronger than first filler, it is gray and show every spot still needs to be repaired. Of course, same like first filler, this one I maximal sand down from the surface...
On wing, next was to set tip tanks. They are made from wooden frame and two plastic parts.
For good alignment used a spirit level...
Than I prepare plastic parts...
Finally I glued first one half and after that other tank part.
Important thing is to plastic part must fit to wooden parts.
Last step, after gluing, was to add filler on to a compound of two parts...
After sanding...
Wing is now ready for glassing...

Yesterday I add first glass cloth on upper wing surface. I usually use 20 gr glass cloth and R&G epoxy resin. Results are always great...
I need few more days to finish this stage on wing. But, on some other smaller parts, glassing is done...
My Autoclave...
For glassing process I need four days. First day cloth is applied on first side. Next day, I sand down surplus and after that glass is applied on other part side.
Than gentle sanding of all surface and I add one more layer of resin on every side. Just epoxy resin. That layer fill all small gaps and other holes on glass cloth.
Again sanding and last step is applying gray filler.
When that filler sand with sand paper surface is like glass, smooth and glibly...
On surface prepare on this way, applying panel lines, rivets, dummy screws and all other details is without any problem Sure, before that, everything must wipe with cloth wet with alcohol.
That's all for today...

Today I got new thrust tube from IQ Hammer for my smaller 1/5 scale G2.
First one I got month ago was 87 mm inner diameter, but with outer wall for cooling, total diameter was little bigger than 95 mm (diameter of hole on last rib), so I can't install it in fuselage.
On IQ Hammer web site this tube size is for turbines from 80 - 160N.

IQ Hammer has good customer service. How about just asking the guy at IQ Hammer what he means? You are the customer so maybe they will explain in more detail. I wish i could be of some help but i have no turbine experience. On Monday 21 December i will be officially retired so it is doubtful i will ever have any turbines.
