Hello Mirce my friend,
I know you are getting excited about finally getting to fly your Galeb G2. You have worked very hard for a long time to get to this moment. I am also sure your G2 will fly as good as it looks. I wish you all the best with your maiden flight. I am very much looking forward to reading about how well it went.
Take care,
David

Thank you David on kind words...
If I want to maiden flight pass in best way, I must check everything. In last few days I work on that job.
After install equipment in G2, I start my IQ Hammer 90+ for the first time in fuselage.
Kerosene tanks I bought from Carlos (CMJets) work great, no leaking.
Turbine work also without problem. No hot starts, it work great in all mode, from idle to full throttle.
OK, at beginning it stop for few time, but that was my mistake. Once I take down throttle stick before electronic finish start procedure and turbine quit immediately when I added throttle.
Twice engine stop on full power. I wasn't be sure what is going on, so called Dietmar in IQ Hammer and he told me that is because I wasn't disconnect Data terminal after engine start.
After that I was work as he told me and turbine work every time without problem. I test it more than ten times, it work great...
Most important for me, in this new model, was reduce fuselage heating.
On first G2 fuselage behind turbine was pretty hot, but in that model I have one wall thrust tube.
Now, with two walls thrust tube, fuselage after more than 15 starts on ground is cold, no warm or hot, it's cold.
That is great...
Only little warmer part was rear fuselage end, but reason for that is little shorter inner tube.
When I ordered thrust tube measure was without front aluminum inlet part. But when I received it, in full length was inlet also. Because that thrust tube is shorter for that inlet part length.
During installation I must separate two walls tube, so outer tube is on the rear of the fuselage and inner is little inside.
Don't forget, I start turbine on the ground. That is worst situation...
When model fly more air will flow around tube and cool it down. I think in that case temperature on rear fuselage section will be even lower.
CG is on right place, I add 400 gr lead in front fuselage section.
Now I must say, CG is on maximum front position and maybe part of lead will take down after few flights.
Other thing, when I put battery for light system, another servo and air cylinder for gear doors, all lead will be remove.
That mean, no any weight for balancing model!!!
On every my text I lately wrote, I told that maiden flight will be soon, but now for sure that will be in next few days.
Unfortunately weather forecast is no good until end of this week - rain...
To be continued...

Report from yesterdays Galeb G2 maiden flight.
I haven't a lot of pictures, because I was busy with model, but on my Facebook page you can find more photos...
OK, first flight was a complete success.
For take off G2 need about 60 - 70 meters (grass runway), after climbing it need few clicks on elevator trimmer and two or three clicks on right on ailerons. That was all...
I add 25% expo on ailerons and elevator but on ailerons I must, for future, add more expo.
As I told earlier, CG set on maximum forward point. I think, that is reason for trimmer on elevator setting.
In next few flights, little by little I'll remove some weight from nose of the model.
In air G2 fly very easy, like some big trainer model. Interesting is, on half throttle model fly very stable.
I was little afraid, because more than two and half years I wasn't fly any big RC model, no warbird or jet.
But after take off, there was no problem...
Time watch was set on 7 minutes, 2 litter tank was 1/3 full with fuel after landing.
And landing, o man, that was best part of whole flight. Check video, from 1' 55'' landing approach was exactly like real, big Galeb G2.
Speed on landing was like slow motion... I'm delight how the model landed...
Flaps was 45 degrees down and throttle was on about 25 - 30% until few meters above runway.
I'm not Ali, or Dino or some famous RC model flyer, but this model can land my grand mama...
All in all, I'm so pleased with maiden flight.
Now I want to thank all my friends from here and around the world.
IQ Hammer 90+ turbine, Behotec retracts, CM Jets tank, ZAP glue, was equipment I use in this project...
On take off Galeb G2 weight was 11,3 kilogram + 2,2 liter fuel.
Wingspan is 2320mm (without tip tanks 2060mm).
For all control surface I use Hitec HS 645 MG servos, only on front leg is Hitec HS 5645 MG.
Radio JR 9303 with 2 Matchbox (flaps & elevators).
For receiver 2 x 2S LiPo batteries 2250 mAh.
No giro, no power box...
As I know, this is world's first and only RC jet model Galeb G2 that flew.
Soon, I'll offer 1/5 scale short kit...
More picture on my facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/miroslav.terzic.96
Video made my daughter with cell phone: https://youtu.be/2sJ15s8TYQA
More video will be soon...
Best regards

Congratulations on your maiden flight Mirce, I am very happy for you. I knew you would have no problems. Your Galeb looks amazing in the air and on the ground. It is also great that you were able to share your maiden success with your friends. I don't think I will ever build or fly a Jet, but I have really enjoyed going along with you on your Galeb G2 journey. I will continue to follow you with your larger G2 as well.
I wish you many years of enjoyable flights with your jet. Take care my friend,
David

Thank you David on comment, very kind of you...
As you told, this is journey, story about one modeler project. One chapter was finished with maiden flight, but new episodes following.
Now I need to finish bigger - 1/4scale Galeb G2, in next few days will be presented kit of 1/5 scale G2, new pictures and video from flying field are coming...
Martin began to work on Jastreb J 21 one sitter version of Galeb G2.
At first glance planes are the same, but there are differences especially at the fuselage front and intakes...
OK, back to workshop...
From now, all building I show here will be from a quarter scale G2.
Remember, we stopped at center panel section and gear doors.
Ply plates for gear doors are cut on laser cut machine and will be part of G2 kit. I don't want to waste to much time in fitting it, so I cut little bigger aluminum cover and glue on ply parts.
In open position this two materials give thickness and ply give strength to aluminum plate.
When gears are closed, aluminum plate cross over the edge and gives it a good look. it's thin enough to not stick out from the surface...
On right side I forgot to put small aluminum plate over retract base...
Inner door operated by air cylinder. Lever was draw in 3D program and cylinder with 1-1/2" stroke is right size.
They have position in the middle of the wing, operate through the ribs and are almost invisible...
Hinge are from small piano hinge and other part are positioned on retract.
Third smallest aluminum plate will be screw on wing surface.
Same story is for front landing gear. Galeb have three doors, One big behind and two smaller forward. Those two doors are open and after gear come out they come back in close position.
For now, I made just rear door, front will come after I buy two smaller air cylinder and made doors. That will be in next few days...
Air cylinder is same size like for gear doors on the wing. On picture, you can see hard wood plate on the edge, that is for screws of the piano hinge to not be tighten in balsa cover.
Martin find file of the pilot and our friend print them on 3D printer.
This is prototype to check size and print quality...
And for the end of today post, center panel is covered with second layer of the epoxy resin....
Regards
Mirce

After almost five weeks Galeb G2 flew again. The reason for this pause was issue with temperature sensor in turbine. This small part broke down after first flight, so I must sent turbine in Germany, in IQ Hammer, to fix that.
Few days ago we were on our airfield. Grass was mown few days earlier, so everything was ready for fun. Only problem was extremely hot weather.
I made two starts with my Galeb G2, on first my friend made pictures and on second video.
First flight passed without problems, but I'm on the other made mistake on landing and little damage wing.
For today pictures...
Galeb G2 assembling...
Prepare before take off...
Take off...
Now this last part on video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJF6...ature=youtu.be

Third flight ...

I have the impression that the model on You tube flies faster than "live"...
The landing was "awkward", if it's any consolation, we tested the landing gear and model construction.
Galeb has "passed" this test also...
Small defects have been repaired, and how it was done soon here...
