Great looking model! Just to clarify will they be avialable through M&R or Boomerang Jets and will you have stock? I know you said it will be directly through Ripmax but your helping out does that extend to stocking the kits. (I doubt they'd be in stock very long though) I've never realised I work so close to M&R and would like to have a look at a kit. I'll bring the CC...

Cheers, Alex

Hi Alex, it really is a beauty. I know Im going to sound like a broken record by the end of this but its gorgeous!

Boomerang Jets will be stocking the Hunter as well as M&R and it looks like Ali is as well. Your suspicion about being stock long enough may well turn out to be true though. I secured a large number of kits but that quantity is already wearing away and of course there will only be so many on the first shipment.

If you want one - get your pre-order in now is my advice! Helpful eh!

If you've never been to m&r before be sure to take your card and make sure it has plenty of funds available as the quantity of jet gear dave has in the shop is immense! Even the 'shop' is big, it's warehouse unit size!

Heres the link you were asking for:

The arrangement you ended up with will work fine Colin.

I had a similar depth problem with the elevon servos in my Fei-Bao Mirage and got around it by making some cradles up that minimised space used 'above' the servo. This is no use to you now but someone reading might find the pics handy!

Cheers,

Dick

Hi Dick, yes I like your solution - I was one step away from that one but I didnt have any CSK screws of the right size. Anyway all done now. Its not necessarily a "problem" as such. Just one of those things with building an ARF jet.

For any kits bought through us we will provide a "trinket" pack to help the builder get some of these little things done without another visit to the model shop as they always seem to crop up at 6pm on a Sunday when none of the pesky model shops are open!

Hopefully the fact that reputable UK retailers / distributors are behind the product will do something to bolster your confidence !

However as a very straight answer though - no it is not chinese junk !

In comparison to Skymaster? I have 2 x Skymaster A10's currently in the workshop to build and yes the quality is as good as them....

Hopefully less of a PITA to build though...

Thanks for the reply guys......... Seeing as every Jet meet this summer is going to be like 43sq in the 60's the key I think is to make it as individual as possible. I've got some great ideas for mine

Alex, 19 Squadron judging by Ali's photo. Blue and white checker was 19 Sqn, 43 Sqn is black and white.
Gorgeous model, if only I did not already have 4 other jet kits waiting to be built!

Yes I'd like to get an idea how well it flies too.

What is the overall dimensions? Thought I saw it was 83" long, but Ali's site says its 93" long. Wing span?

Can this jet be ordered in all white? I'd love an all black version (Black Arrows) with high gloss and smoke!

Go on you know you want one.... Good spot though, I stand corrected.

I just have to sneak it past the wife although she cant tell the differerance between an A4 and an F5 so it looks good

Basically its a Ripmax version of Mick Reeves Hunter so it will fly pretty much like a light MR Hunter. Other than the Ripmax team, no one has flown this version. Ripmax list it at 93" 2360mm long.
You could talk with Mike at GJC about a custom version, I'm sure that in a batch they could order a plain one.

We will get this one flying as soon as possible.

Specs are 93" long and 68" span - although I held the tape measure up to mine quickly this morning and it looked more like 91" long

The first shipment are all in this colour scheme. Other schemes may become available by order in the future but the idea of batching them at the moment keeps the cost down and stock available rather than having to wait anything up to 6 months for individually ordered aircraft.

Obviously those wishing to have a different scheme can rub down and re-paint them to be more individual.

Didn't get much done last night but at least made some progress. Moved on to the vertical stab and rudder.

Same arrangement as the wings with the servo mounting blocks but on the stab I decided to cut them out and fit the servo mounts to the hatch again. Once again when doing this make sure that the hatch is strong and laminated well and replace the supplied screws with more substantial ones. There seems to be plenty of screws supplied in the kit to do this. The mounting blocks for the hatch are strong and substantial enough to mount securely to.

I decided to use another Savox SH1250MG for the rudder. I'm sure it will be strong enough and its nice to keep the back end light. One thing I have noticed with the latest batch of Savox servos is that they are including a nice big nylon "super" servo arm so that is an added bonus and I have fitted this arm to both the elevator and rudder servos.

The rudder hinges are standard robart type pin hinges and aren't glued in. I used my preferred method of generously coating the knuckle of the hinge in vaseline to keep the epoxy away from it and fitted all the hinges to the rudder with epoxy. Left that to cure overnight and will then fit rudder to the stab next time I'm working on it.

Bobby,

Don't worry. You don't have to wait for another 5 years to see a jet like this in America. It would be at Florida Jet in March. Don't pack up your stuff yet and save some room for this one.

I just assumed this came with brakes but I can only see two airlines coming out of the wing... Does it come with them and if not what fits and how much extra will they be?

Cheers, Alex

Yes it does come with brakes. The air line probably wasn't fitted in the pic you were looking at but it is fitted now.

Been speaking with Ripmax I felt there was a market for just the retract set for people building a Mick Reeves Hunter. They have agreed to import some so if you are building or going to build a MR kit let me know at motrot@aol.com

Another question is why Global decided to go with a one piece fuslage as opposed to Mick Reeves original 2 part fuse, for those with smaller transport and/or shipping to events.
Easier moulding and weight saving I would think.

Strange

Colin is nothing to do with the importers...
Surface detail inc panel lines and rivets are there...
Fuselage is split....
Model is as Mick Reeves kit, so pretty good...
Paint...90% of people cannot, don't want to and wouldn't buy if they didn't get it factory done...
Price? matter of opinion I guess.

Amazing how people just cannot resist the need to find fault in new planes. I prefer to gem more positive. We have waited a long time for a nice Hunter and this being based on Mick Reeves one is at least scale and has plenty of scale detail. If you want a WJM model I guess this would be a good starting point for the low weight category, but adding all the louvres etc.

Incidentally the original had a removable tail section to gain access to the engine, so this is a scale detail.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:AvonandHunter.jpg

I think that this a great model and it is especially nice to see something beautiful and not the usual F14/15/16. I hope to get one at some stage but I would like a nice yellow one to match my pretty Boulton Paul when it is painted yellow. The Hunter is such a great model because there are a huge number of colour schemes.

John
