Default Skymaster F-104... 180 vs 200

For those flying the SM F-104 with 180 size engines, do you feel it's enough? Other options include the JB-220 or Mammoth.

Total airborne system weight is 3795grams (8.36 lbs) - heavier than most, but a solid 23.5 kgs (52lbs) thrust.

Any pics of your engine install?

I purchased a Behotec JB-220 today for my Starfighter. Best of both worlds (light and powerful).

Why go to a heavy setup ( heavier engines + more fuel ) just to have more thrust?

JB-220 is the same size and weight as a Jetcat 180rx (which I already own) and produces 49lbs of thrust.

Have you run it? Cool! BTW my offer still stands. I could ship you the test bench also or you could build one.

I think you'll like it Dubd, I purchased a Behotec JB190 in November for my Skymaster F4. I test ran it yesterday for the first time. After I got the GSU language sorted out ( default is German) it started up on the first go. A very smooth start and a very powerful engine. The 190 is 42lbs thrust and weighs 5oz more than my Jetcat120sx. The start sequence is a little different than what I'm used to. ( Jetcat & Jet Central). So far, I am very impressed with it.

First thing that you'll notice when you get it, is that it simply exudes quality. The fit and finish is top notch, as are all the components. Even the engine mount is a beautifully painted and engineered pieced , not the familiar cheapy that comes with a Jetcat.

Best of luck with it. Did you by from Peter @ Altecare? If so, he's one awesome dude, support is great if needed.

Mike
