As far as I know, we do not have a waiver system here in Canada. MAAC (Canadian equivalent to the AMA) does not have any speed limits or any requirements or systems in place geared towards turbine aircraft. It is pretty much a "run what ya brung" situation.

No we don't have a waiver system but we do have a new system in place LOP letter of proficiency for Those who want to fly in the US
We. Still follow the AMA guidelines while flying in the US ie 200 mph etc.
I think it's a great system both sides of the border

Hi Andy - it takes a little more than what you said about a non USA pilot who is not an AMA member to fly a turbine in the USA. AMA document 510-A, page 4, states that the AMA will accept a letter from the National Aero Club stating that the pilot is qualified and experienced in operating a model powered by a turbine engine.
We have a number of Canadian turbine pilots that attend Jets Over Whidbey each year, and they must have a letter issued by MAAC (Canadian equivalent of the AMA) stating they are turbine qualified, otherwise we will not let them fly.

here in australia we have a permit to fly turbine jets. first thing the turbine inspector does is inspect your plane to make sure it has been put together properly.then checks every thing that works works properly. then he checks that you know how to start and stop it.then if he is happy he will certify it then he checks you flying it and makes sure your safe doing it and if he is happy then he will certify you to be able to fly the jet .the cert last for 3 years and after 3 years you do it all over again

I would expect the FAA enforcablity will be with property owners. If you are renegade flying, the enforcement will be to warn/go after the owner of the property you are flying on. It will be up to them to ask you to leave the property once warned, otherwise they will be punished.

Let me clarify exactly who may sign off turbine waiver applicants:
1. Two pilots who each have an AMA turbine waiver
2. Both of the above must be "experienced turbine pilots" - meaning that they have completed 20 turbine flights during the last 24 months
3. At least one of the above must also be an AMA CD
