RE: Any word on the Grumania 727
Hi there ,
some time ago I managed the maiden flight of my first 727. Having done that , I have finally managed to get a nice finish on the bird. According to my flight experience, I have updated the CG informations in the building manuals which can be downloaded in my download section at www.grumania.com
The plane is a really nice flyer with no nasty habits at all.It is rock steady in the air and does not show any tendencies of wiggle, change of AOA at different thrittle settings, ect.
In summary - I am more than happy with my new baby.
It will be presented at JetPower 2013 in September
Cheers

Ilja,
IT is stunningly beautiful. I have got to get one. I hope you plan to make some dummy engine fans to put in the front of the side nacelles. That will give it an even more realistic look. Congratulations and I bet it will be a big hit at JP.

Hi Tommy,
I have already made some dummies for it , they even run when the engine sucks air through the nacelles ( the engine fairings supply the turbine with extra air ) .But the dummies are made from stainless sheet metal and can not be made commercially- maybe I find someone who could do a master ,using a 3D printer. Then ,I think I could make a mould to make resin-reproductions for the kits.

Ilja,
That was beautiful and the plane looks like it flies great. Much more like an airliner than previous kit offerings here in the US. What engine was used in the demonstration? When will it be ready for shipping? And have you finalized a price for it yet?
Thanks
Tommy

Hi Tommy,
the model powered by a Jets Munt VT 80 which is more than needed ! This engine is small and very light, also the most efficient turbine in the world.Thats why I chose this one. As you can see it goes like on rails.Anyway, I will add a gyro on the rudder for a better landing on cross winds. The model is in the shop for about one year and I already sold some. At the moment I have two kits left in stock.Information about pricing can be found here:

The building manuals are here:

What is the shipping costs to the US? I note on the price that you take off 19% VAT if you are not in country, so it looks like just the kit is 1507 Euros? right. How are the flaps and ailerons hinged? BTW, the manual looks very good, but does the nose cone have to be made removeable?

Hi ,
BTW, the manual looks very good, but does the nose cone have to be made removeable?
It makes life easier, but it is an option and you can decide what you like.
Ailerons and Flaps are ready hinged - live hinges !
Yes, VAT,19% is deducted OUTSIDE OF EUROPE. Its a pitty that most people don`t realize that...........

You said the flaps are hinged. When you say that, are they a standard pivot hinge or fowler tracked like the the full sized aircraft? On both the 727-100 and 200, the flaps traveled back and down, almost doubling the wing area with the inboard flap stopping less than a meter off the ground at full extension. In addition, they had leading edge slats that extended forward and down roughly .5 meter.

Like the full size aircraft ? Are you joking ?
I said live hinges and that says all. A scale model at that size is absolutely impossible and does not even make sense.
Lift and drag is a totally different thing on full size/model. A good flying model is more important than useless Kruger Flaps ....

Was just curious is all. I used to work on 727-200s back in the late 80s/early 90s so I know how they were set up. I've also seen some larger scale P-38s with similarly styled scale flaps so I know it can be done, hence the question. After seeing the video of the plane flying, it looked really good. You have my compliments on a nicely done aircraft
