It looks like a North American T-39 Sabreliner that has seen better days.

Tor,

Took a few minutes to figure out where you found that jet at Moffett using Google Maps. Why is it in that area of the base I have no idea. Scrap maybe, but I see some water craft too. Strange.

Also, for about 8 months now I've seen this Alpha Jet flying around Silicon Valley. It's so sleek and quite as it does the traffic pattern. It looks like its a permanent part of the activities going on at the base. I'm not sure what division of NASA is using it and for what reason. It would be interesting to know.

Ok did a little research. The jet is owned and operated by H211, LLC, which is owned by the Google founders. Looks like it's being leased to NASA for some greenhouse gas experiments.
