CAN THIS BE HAPPENING....?
Well just placing my thoughts on what happened today in 2 airfields in Cyprus based on fellow modellers who were flying their jets today on a very bright sunshine day at kotsiatis airfields.
These airfields are about 2 km from each other.
5 jets in total suffered some damages 2 of the pilots one from each airfield reported that they were sure they were on approach and at center of runway but both landed 1-2 meters left of runway suffering mainly undercarriage damages and minor cracks.
One of the pilots initially on first approach landed the aircraft centered but off the premix runway and hard as he thought he already touched down and was on the premix edge, immediately went on goaround mode and on his second attempt he was so sure that he had the plane aligned with the airfields centerline that he did performed his flare but of course he was 2 meters off.
after we heard that same thing happened on the other airfield at approx same hour i recalled the following thread here
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10...m.htm#10993132
and told the pilots of this solar flares .
minutes later a friend who follows astronomy as amateur emailed me this link
http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/
that speaks about solar activity during these 3 days forecast and i am wondering if this activity could apart from radio HF interference could also have an effect on depth or prallax error in pilots orientation during approaches, what do you think? CAN THIS BE HAPPENING??

I'm going to use that excuse the next time I miss the runway
Solar flare in one eye and sun spots in the other.
Zurich sunglasses should come up with something for this. [8D]

That's just Dan's nickname for me.He invited me over.Seriously though, the issue is too many ufo takeoffs are melting the polar ice caps, resulting in a proliferation of condensation nucleii, resulting in anomolies in the propogation of different light spectrums, causing distortion in individual spatial orientation, with the inevitable result of guys landing significantly off the centerline.Like a funnel gunnel.Seen it at the airport 100 times.

Thank goodness! I thought I was going to have to give-up drinking. That transition from three to two dimensions is a real B*%_#.
