How about some pics of Whidbey?
Thanks Charlie,
I really wanted to be there also. Now that Princeton in canceled it looks as if that's it as far as jet rallies go for this year. It's got to rain sometime so we can get some jet flyin in. It's ironic, rain is usually our enemy for flyin jets around here.
Was there a good turnout this year?

HEY Justin!!
Good shots. I just got back from over a week on the beach at West Palm Beach. I have to do those things to keep the wife happy, which in turn keeps me supplied with Jets! I was hoping it would rain while I was gone but it doesn't look like it. Did you get any flyin in on Fri. or just Sat. and Sun? How was the weather? As soon as this burn ban is lifted I'm heading for Shelton with the Bobcat.

I have a couple of photos but the rest are going on the "Jets Over Whidbey" web site.
Sorry you missed the weekend. Attendance by the jet guys was a little down from previous years but we actually did more flying because the weather cooperated for both days. There was also about twice as many spectators as we have had in the past.
Ming came down from BC a brought a couple of beautiful new birds.

Roy,
Looks like a good group!! Only 3 guys in short pants. Must of been a tad on the chilly side. I'll keep checking the web site for more pictures. We got to get together so I can pick up my Montana Jets "Peoples Choice" award. Thanks for keeping it for me.

There were some guys that showed up early on Fri and the Navy turned them away. But by 10:00 am there were too many guys showing up so they let us on the field. The weather was windy and cold but the guys did some flying that afternoon. The rest of the weekend was great.
We are trying to get Fri as an official flying day but so far the Navy has not given their sanction. We still had to log all the participants and spectators onto the facility. What a logistical nightmare that eats up manpower. But it is now a way of life if you want to use a government facility for a flying site. We are very appreciative of the site and a big thanks to the Navy for letting us use their facility.

And a big Thanks to you guys who go to the trouble to put on a Jet Flyin for the rest of us. Many Thanks!!!! Maybe you guys that are experienced in putting on these flyins could help us with one at Shelton? Shouldn't be quite the hassle as a military field.

Its too bad that Princeton was canceled. I managed to plug in an extra jet meet this year by going to Michigan jets. Let me know when you go to Shelton this month and I will meet you. We can always burn some kerosene when the burn ban is lifted.
I go to the Woodland/Davis, Calif jet meet (just NW of Sacramento) every year on the second weekend in Oct. If you are suffering from flying withdrawal, give it a try. They always have a good low key weekend of flying. It will test your flying skills with a 47' wide runway.

In the photo with all the participants you may notice they are holding their "Trophies". Chuck managed to get canopy material from the trash (thrown out due to bird strikes, etc) and did an outline of the EA-6B and the "Jets Over Whidbey" logo. Very unusual memento for the meet.

I made some changes to the site to reflect a two day event instead of the three days that were listed. My server guy then had problems with his system and it dropped some of the hyperlinks. Since I am a low priority customer (piggy-back, free rider) it has been slow to get things back up and running.
I am also putting together the 2003 photos and will upload the site again in the next week or so. Hopefully it will be up and running shortly.
Rich can now start on his windscreen and bug deflectors.
