Enrique,
To select the section of bar I calculate the force on wing @ 10g, I check what my aluminum supplier has and his material then I make some finite elements analysis to obtain @ 10g the maximum stress lower then yeld.
The used material is EN AW 6082 T6, Rp =250 Mpa and Rm =310 Mpa 20x15 mm thickness=1.3mm.
2 bars are little bit over dimensioned (max stress obtained in traction is about 190MPa), this is not the ideal section, but it is the best solution that I find from my alu supplier!
This kind of calculation was done before starting to engineers the model, the same methodology was used to calculate the gears support.
About the details of splitting, this evening I make some photos!

Wow. Just realized I am way under-educated! Will now approach my plane building activities with a different attitude.

Hello,
the model was finished last month, I make other 20 flights with no problem.
I'm very happy for the results, I hope that in the future I'll permit myself to buy a new(and more powerful) engine. My behotec JB165 (over 500 hours in 12 years) is enought to make a quiet flight, the weight of model is 31 kg at take off !
Here some picture of my starfighter (and my hun) during a meeting in Italy.

Thanks Jofunk,
wings are attached with aluminum tubes.
I'm not sure what you asking me in first part of your sentence, I think about price of wooden short kit.
Price for kit is 550,00 Euro, shipping to USA is 80,00Euro.
In US Dollars it is, with Pay Pall fee, 699,00$
More info can find on: http://www.nsmodelers.rs/damiano-f-104
Hope I give you right answer, sorry my English is not good...

My Feedback: (25)
To answer your question, the nose cone comes off, the nose at the intakes, tail just behind the wings comes off, wings come off and tip tanks are removable, also stab is removable.
I will have to make changes to the intake and fuselage outline, but that will be an easy fix, also I'm using the Airworld 104 retracts.

Sorry, my bad English...
Fuselage is from 4 parts - cowl, front section, center section and rear part.
Wings are removable, you can made removable tip tanks for easier transport. Tip tanks are 1,3 meter long!!!
Elevator is removable also...
