Hi Behzad
Yes I made that side panels also out of light ply, if I was going to do it again I would
use 0.5 glass sheet just to get a better finish.

Hi Ian

thank you. I am planning to lightly glass it and add some ridges as well.

Thanks again.

Hi Guys,
I have a question, is there a better what to mount the steering servo other than to the side of the nose leg as per manual? I have the servo tray break lose twice now and I need to find a better solution.
Interested to hear how others have mounted their steering servo, Btw I fly off a fairly rough surface which doesn't help either.

cheers GlennO

Hello Glen If you restrict the air line to prevent the gear from slamming up and down it will save the servo bracket.

Looking for a little help on a new to me Comp Arf Marchetti 260. Plane has been flown before, but I have changed quite a bit on the install. Have everything all set up to do my maiden, except for the CG check. The manual on Comp Arf's web site lists the recommended CG point but I am unsure if the check should be with gear up or gear down. Can anyone out there provide any input on gear up or gear down for the CG check.
Thanks.

Hi all, my turbo prop Marchetti is done. But for balancing, it seems as I need a little less than 2lb weight in the nose. Did you all have the same experience ? I am planning to mold the weight in the lower scoop. If you added the weight, where did you install it.

thanks

Hi Behzad,
I did the maiden and several flights on my DA 100 powered Marchetti late last year. Everything was perfect except for nose gear retract problems. Just went ahead and changed that out to Behotec electric so now no more problems. No problem at all with balance. I had all of my batteries in front of the wing tube nothing heavy behind the tube. I didn't need to add any weight at all to get proper CG.

I am now in the process of changing the plane to a Turbo Prop and would really be interested in any pictures, measurements and suggestions from your install.
Thanks.

Hi

the turbo prop is about 5.5 lb. but most of the turbine sits inside the fuse. Also, I like stuff organized and easily accessible so put the powerbox behind the CG . I am working on it but it looks like it would need about 1.75 lb on the firewall to balance. I would get the correct number as soon as I have time to mess with it.

I would be be glad to send you all the details. Here are some pictures . you can give me your e-mail address and I can e-mail them as well. The most important number, the upper standoffs need to be 11.8mm.

Default CART Marchetti Composite plane.

Good Morning All..
I have been building for approx. 2 years. I just bought a Carf Marcetti kit from an estate sale. New, approx. 3 years old, C50 pneumatic landing gear, upgraded instrument panel, 5-HiTec 7945, 2-HiTece 7955, 1-HiTec 7980, AR9110 Reciever, and SWB arms. All new in the boxes. I was wondering does anyone have a build thread other than the Construction Manual. I would like to try and build this plane and/or sell it.
Thanks JJ... [email protected]

Hi All, I finally maiden the plane today. What a nice flying plane. The only issue was that it seemed underpowered so I think I have wrong size prop on. I am currently running 24x12 three blade prop. For those of you that have been flying it for a while, can you please let me know what size prop are you using. (Engine is Jetcat stp5 , v3. )

thanks

I have about 5 flights on mine since the conversion. I am running a King Tech K60TP and spinning a 24 X 22 pitch prop. No way of knowing for sure what RPM I am turning in the air but It Tacked 4950 on the ground on a test stand run. Seems to have plenty of power and decent vertical. Not as much as when I was flying on a DA 100 with two blade prop but seems pretty scale to me.

This is a picture from this weekend flying in 20-25 mph winds. Plane handled it really well. It's really a sweetie!

Hi Sailing 1. Thanks for the info. It looks like i am using the right prop. So something else might be going on. Did you open any pass ways for the air for turbine ? I have opened the wheel wells and a duct on top .

Thanks

My plane was converted to a TP from a DA 100 powered plane that had cans. I left the previous exhaust openings open under the plane. The plane also had two 2 inch x 4 inch vents aft of the bulkhead behind the gear which I left open. I think I am getting enough air from the combination of these. As expected there is quite a bit of heat build up at shut down and to that end I open the canopy as soon as possible and use a yard blower to help with cool down and heat dissipation. I also have an open duct on top.

Prop is A Biela Turbo prop 3 blade ( It has Turbo prop written on it ) and is 24x 14

Centre of Gravity.... is somewhere on the wing I didnt do a precise measurement but I did put my fingers on the front edge of slot that the main oleo retracts into.

Air intake.... its a JC so its not overly sensitive. Nor does it need any attention paying to blocking off the hot gases etc etc. The turbine is just breathing ambient air from inside the fuselage.

Light set.. Is from Airfighter.... Not on the website as yet. But will be soon.

Yes, I do love my local flying strip. To have that less than 1 mile from my back door is like a dream come true.

Very Lucky! Euan

Hello Ali, I hope everything is going well.

I do have a question if you don’t mind. Is the only different between the short nose version and the turbo prop “long nose version is the cowling only and the carbon turbine mount that comes with the turbine version? Because that what I can see on the pics!!
does they have the same firewall design and dimensions ?

I have a dealer ship in my area who is offerings me a good deal on the short nose version.
I was thinking to but and order the long nose version cowling and turbine mount.

Regards
Meshal

Hi Meshal, I converted the short nose to TP as well following the pictures from Ali’s plane. It is a good amount of extra work that you have to do which if I remember them all, includes cutting the firewall, making mounts inside the fuse, making a nose mount for the turbine, making the bottom mounts for holding the turbine (this part was a pain as you have to bend the tubes in exact size) and the rest of the build. Also, it takes a good amount of nose weight to balance. The final result on mine is great but as there are no solid instruction, you have to do it slowly until things fit.

thanks for your replay.
So if I order the long nose cowl and the turbine mount would it fit on the short nose version body?? because that would save me a lot of time and modification.
