One more thing, gsmarino, try heating the air line a little bit to soften it up.

The pins are a standard metric size and are readily available cheaply from Ebay in the USA as hardened and ground steel dowel pins. I then heated and softened the one end and turned a groove and fitted a E clip so it can be easily removed in the future without pulling the UC out. The pin can be left hard or tempered to blue. If you leave it hard as Behotec do the pin will be brittle and snap in a really bad landing but will not bend. I did have one on my Horten snap so I know they can break.

I got 3 flights in yesterday finally. I have a k140g and the Igyro. I realized I probably should of only added 1 thing at a time. Everything went very well and the gyro helped me big time with the 10-15mp straight cross wind.

The K140G adds considerable power. I did not notice the extra weight. At 1/2 throttle its about as fast as my k100G was at WOT. I found it difficult to find my normal cruise speed, which was closer to 1/4 throttle. its very strange to have the stick down that low.

Landing was a bit hot and I killed power before my final 180 degree curve back to the runway.

I only hit WOT one time on a pullout from a slow fly by. it took off like a rocket. I will be worried if I go full throttle in a dive I will break it!

On a personal note, I tried to lfy my mig29 yesterday and realized after my taxi tests the steering servo wasn't strong enough. So got to get that fixed then I'll try again!

I think this is what you were looking for , just check they are 8 mm and that they are long enough. Not expensive, at $9.92 for 10 with free postage from UK. They have other sizes available.

Hi again Mark. Just lookig at page 11 I see you cut the wing tips off. I am buying a second viper and need to do it as the tips are flexng to much. Do I cut it off with a dremel tool? And then what? Fill it with foam and then glass the ends close? Or how does one go about it? Many thanks.

My new completed Viper with savox 1256TG servos and 10kg Kingech. Flew it without wingtips. Much prefer it. Also did the tank mod of using saddle tanks and a 32OZ tank upfront. It has zero coupling on knife edge and flies better inverted.

See pics attached. Cant wait to refurb the new one Im getting.

Karl,

Not sure how you knew that the tips were flexing. I like the way the tips look with the Ferrari scheme, and they seem to help with visibility. Regardless I'll try without them next weekend and see how much it improves knife edge.

Hi Greg. No. This one has removsble tips. No issues. I am buying a secondhand one that had a wheels up landing. The tips flex alot from the whole in underside. So want to cut them off and fix.

Hello All,
Just ordered my first turbine air frame and this one after much research has won hands down .It will be the Canadian scheme with a kingtech k100g.I have read most of this thread and I still have time to order the factory hv servos.I don't see a whole lot of discussion these servos in terms of reliability.Just wondering if anyone is using them or thoughts on the most economical digital servo for this airframe I have been using hitec for years in my planes with great success maybe i should not mess with this formula.I will be using the spektrum ar1220 hv rx .Awesome thread by the way plenty of good info which helped me decide this was the plane for me plus i fly off grass.

Barger,

Good choice. This is my second turbine (still flying the first) but so far I'm very happy. Lots of complements at the field. I used Hitec MG digitals all around, with a 7995TG on the elevator. Nothing against the JL servos; It's just that I've been using Hitec for 10 years now with good luck. AR1220 receiver, 2X Turnigy 2100 LiFe receiver batteries, K100G.

Are you going with the three tank set up?

Tehran servos are very reliable. All metal casing. Digital servos and hi voltage and high torque. We have been testing them on this Viper for over three years now with about 20-30 vipers out there flying with factory servos. No report of problems. I am very happy with them because they save me a lot of time in installation. Mike.

Hi Greg thanks for the reply I am going to try the stock set up first i think because i have alot of runway. Then maybe experiment from there I will have the legend smoke system as well. Its due mid aug so i am just thinking about the details.Thats what i was planing for the elevator7995 same as you but what do you suggest for the rest of the surfaces?

I believe the rest are 5645MG. I was thinking of trying the new 5585TH but my LHS didn't have them at that time. The 5645 have been very reliable for me although they are not the most precise at centering.

Greg,

You'll like this plane a lot. Very easy to fly and land. Making your way out of grass with the 100 will not be a problem. I've done it with a Rabbit. I added lights this year and it simply looks awesome on approach. The AETE scheme is very easy to see as well. If you make your way down to Wingham Jets you'll see it. I can't make Iroqouis.

I fly with Bill every weekend. There are quite a few Viperjets from different manufacturers that show at Wingham every year but I think I have the only AETE scheme so if you have seen it in a video, it probably is mine. Wingham is fantastic. I haven't missed one yet. If you can make it down, you'll learn a lot. I've been flying jets 10 years and I still learn something new every year.

I would love to go but can't make it this year ...having the jet will make for a better case to convince my better half to go next year I have been flying rc for alot of years and have not been this excited about a airframe in a long time.I think most of the credit is due to the people on this thread from all over the world building flying and offering their advice on owning this remarkable jet.Seems to be a excellent trainer for a newbie like me and offers alot of room to advance.Pleasure speaking with you Jeremy.
