On my version there is no fill valve on the nose gear, only on the mains have it however the nose strut feels quite strong, I'm wondering if they may have changed it with recent batches.

I doubt it Jeremy, it will show up when you fill with fuel, I would drop an email to Jet Legend if you are certain there is no threaded hole.
You can quickly pull the leg out and check to see if there is a spring fitted of course.

My grub screws that hold the leg on are also facing back and not on the side like your images. I'll take some photos when I get home tonight

You don't need to touch them, just remove one of the pins to drop the leg out.

Just checked it, Mines got a spring.

The mains have the air fill slot and I even got a nipple with some black airline on it to fill them with but the nose is definitely a spring. (sorry for the poor pics)

Hi all,
Share the latest flight video. My JL viper jet this time would be some differences,
Cg was settled at 35mm behind spar as per yours. Former is at the wing tube.
Now i find that it can be flew very slowly with take off flap down.It was very stable
in theslow flight, Manipulability great, not easy to stall.By the way, power by JL T12.

Balancing mine today, hope to maiden in the next week or so. As per everyone else at 35mm back, which seems to be right on the front opening of the main hatch before it goes up and forward. My ECU battery is going to have to go in the trubine bay. Will weigh it later today as well and post back my AUW,

AUW = 10.5kgs with the header tank full.

Balanced at approximately 35mm behind factory C.G / wing spar centre.

I also modified my flap and installed a horn in line with the servo cutout.

I'm going to use 2mm down elevator for take off flap and 4mm down for landing flap, can anyone confirm these setting should be okay? Flaps are 25mm take off and 55mm landing

Some pics of my fit out, just need to add some velcro ties to my ecu pack in the engine bay and my RX packs and run my RX antenna's.

Thanks

Jeremy

Hi all
I was asked a question today via emailregarding the flap mod i made to my Viper and thought it might be usefully to others

Question
I''m maidening my Viper Jet next Sat and was wondering if you could tell me what amount of down trim you have for your take off and landing flap.
Also I did the mod to flap horn like you did, do you find it has a bit of play upwards when set level to the wing?

Reply
Measured at the inboard of the elevator I have 3mm of down elevator for take off and a further 1mm for landing.
Ihave 6mm up aileron or "crow" with landing flap, thishelps negate large amounts ofelevator trim.
I dont have any "crow for take off flap. The flapsare set to 32mm for take off and 50mm for landing.
Its also got a 4 sec slow down set on the flapto smooth every thing out.

Backlash on flap
I do get a bit of up play when the flaps are neutral and was a bit worried at first but its been clocked on my GPS at over 230 mph and has not fluttered yet.
I think perhaps I put the flap horn a little too rearward and its a little short but it dose give good leverageevery were but at neutral.
I gave it some thoughttodayand think I have cured the upward backlashcompletely by glueing a wedge under the linkage, see the pics it works a treat!

Regards Mark

The only other mod ive made to my Viper is to place wedges between the carbon plates and the UC to splay the legs outward a bit.
I thought they looked a bit odd when straight, allmostas if they were splaying inward as std when it sat on the ground.
I also poped a wedge behind the nose wheel retract unit to lean it forward a bit.
When retracted the joint on the nose wheels trailing link is now only just inside the wheel well.
Its only 2-3deg and prob only makes a small differance but i got board one evernig so tinkerd
They handel wellon the ground anyway I think it just looksa littelbetter?
