So far I have had two JL Viper jets, my first one (and my first jet ever) was a vodafone, then after 30 or so flights I sold it to a friend of mine and I bought the Ferrari one.
It is beautiful and it looks really good in the air, very visible and no problems with that. Also I like to mention that what you are referring as decals are by the way painted marks and with a very good quality paint.

You will not regret it. Go with the Ferrari.

Thanks - it makes sense that it would be visible. There is a nice yellow/green one with a Wren 100 for sale in the UK. It's a good price but it would probably cost a fortune to ship it to the US.

Thanks, it seems like it should show up well. The reason I worry is that I sometimes have trouble seeing my Habu 32 (which is dark red, black and silver). Great to know that the markings are painted!

I may wait a bit to see if a good used one shows up. If not I'll probably order the RTF version and install a K100.

Received my JL Viperjet today, only four weeks after ordering. The quality of finish is superb. Probably the best quality ARF I have seen.
I always check all the fitted items, especially inside fuel tanks. The only thing I changed was security wire on the clunks & a little silicone grease on the brakes, to stop them grabbing. Everything else was excellent.
It came with all high voltage servos & linkages fitted. Also fuel tanks, UAT, thrust tube & electronic valves, fitted.
The retract & brake system was still full of air when I received the jet, so no leaks.
I see the wingtip lenses have been reshaped & are more pleasing to the eye.

Hi Guys,

Here is a progress report regarding my Vodafone Viperjet, first I can't believe how good this well thought out kit is!! Progress is a bit slow as I am not in a rush

and I spend more time looking at it than working on it. All servos are in, new woodwork made just like Beachey has shown us, fuel tanks ( 1x 1500ml + 2 smoke tanks.)

just as Mark described I posts 161 and 167. The front tank sits on its side to give more space above. I did not think that the bore of the clunks in the small tanks were

good enough at 2mm so I opened them out to 2.4 mm, this should give about 25% increase in flow. This morning (28 deg F) I tested them on the bench and they

were perfect, both smoke tanks filled and emptied at the same time. Because the twin vents are at the back of the tank I decided to fit another short clunk so that

I could drain the rest of the fuel out without having to extract it through the UAT.

On my kit the CG is now marked 20mm behind the centre of the wing tube. The paint job is fantastic, if it flies as good as it looks I will be very happy.

So, Jeff at Zedjet is your man.

I got a viper from jeff earlier in the year in the black with the union jack scheme very pleased with it getting it ready for next year when the weather get a bit better all so got a jets munt 100 to put in it going to use the xcalibur fuel tank fits in nice right up to the air ducting will post pic later

You should have a good read through the thread. The CG that most fly at is 35mm behind the centre of the wing spar. That is the position I use on mine and it is easily checked by picking the model up with the rear hatch front corners where it should balance.

It is a great model and you will enjoy it.

I would have to agree with Mike and many others the CG is best on the front corners of rear hatch. Mine is balanced there and i have great control for entire flight even with the high shift that occurs with the CG shift for fuel.

I am making some changes to the retract/brake system on my Viper - separate air tanks for brakes and retracts. This requires me to cut and reconnect some of the 2mm lines. These fittings have a ferrule that slides over the tubing after the tubing has been installed over the barb. The ferrules are very small and hard to install. Anyone have a good way to install these? Thanks, Al

The trick is to get the ferrule level with the end of the tube and push both on to the nipple at the same time.

Slide the tube over the nipple, then the ferrule needs to be parallel with the nipple, grab the ferrule with some haemostat (be gently) and push on.
Sometimes I rub some of the grease on your forehead with my fingers over the tube, that way the ferrule slides very easily.

My Viper has the light system. I ordered the airplane with the lights installed and I am very pleased. As noted above they are very bright and run cool. I am using A123 batteries so they are running on 6.6volts and the current draw with all lights on was less than .10amp . They will require two channels on the receiver - one for landing lights and one for running lights. Don't have any pictures at this time. Al

I believe that GJC normally includes the lights in their pro-wired versions. Just email [email protected] and ask about getting the lights separately.

I have the lights installed on my viper. The Nav lights can be seen on bright days but the strobes are hard to see unless it is overcast. The landing lights are very easy to see.
