70 degree is plenty. Just remember that it takes longer time to slow this sleek snake down. Mike

I am using 2s life for my lights. Works really well for me.
Enjoy your new viper.

Thanks Paul. Everything is fitting well. Has anyone had any issues with the nose wheel servo clearance in the retracted position? I have Savox 1270s

My nosegear servo (Hitec 5645MG) wanted to catch on the corners of the aluminum retract housing. I avoided this by mounting it flat against the carbon fiber plate from underneath. Otherwise it clears fine.

Javier,

Curious, did you round off your nosegear housing? Mine has square corners.

This is how I did mine. The fixing bolts were fouling the edge of the frame so I filed a couple of grooves to provide clearance. I'm using a Hitec HS-645 for the steering, and Savox 1256 on all the surfaces.

Completed my maiden today. Excellent acceleration from a standing start, pulled it off in about 350 feet. It accelerated very quickly even during the climb out ... I had to dial back to less than half throttle to keep the speed reasonable while I was getting it trimmed out. I let it get a bit to slow so it bounced once on the landing.

Thanks, Jason. I think I will love it once I get fully calibrated on the landings.

I got in 11 flights in 2 days at Tucson. Thanks to Mike Lin and everyone who helped get it ready and dialed-in. It flies very nice & very fast. It definitely needs crow to help slow it down. I will program that in my JR 11x. Next up: Smoke! I just need the tanks as I have everything else. Any suggestions?

Jack, your Viper flew nice. I am glad that you enjoys it. We sell smoke tanks that's for the Viper. Email Mandy at [email protected] I think we might have them in stock. Mike

I increased my crow from 6mm to approx. 10 mm (3/8"). I definitely like this better - allowed me to carry throttle longer and it felt more stable at slow speeds.

Hi guys. Busy building my second viper. This time with JL saddle tanks as main tanks and a 32oz Dubro at stock location.

My concern. Is the stock tank stoppers and clear tubing fine with Jet fuel. Does it last long and stay leak free? If not what should I replace it with? Lastly how tight do you make the allan screws in the stopper and do you need to locktite it?

Thanks
Karl

Hi Karl, I would say the tank stopper is fine if it is the red one as this is for gas. The clear tubing i would recommend getting either tygon or other line that is compatible with petrol or jet fuel. You can use the standard fittings but there are alot of aluminium ones around these days to use for better security. Also it would not hurt to use larger brass tubing thru the stopper.

Thanks Jason. No they are black. I will then remove and do it with a alu ring and proper dubro stopper kit. Thanks.

Karl,

If you are talking about the clear tubing and stoppers that come from Jet Legend, these are of course made for kerosene/diesel and work fine. Tygon is also fine for the suction plumbing if you like it better. I do not use Tygon on the pressure side of the pump. If you are talking about the Dubro tank fittings then yes, like Jason said you need to make sure they are compatible with kerosene and not the glow fuel versions. I have the same setup with the saddle tanks but using one of the stock JL tanks up front. I did find the saddle tanks to have some cutting debris in them, so I rinsed these out with isopropyl. I also safety wire all the fuel line connections.

Curious why you are using a smaller Dubro tank instead of a JL one?

Regards,
Greg

Jack,

Very sorry to hear that, especially with such a new plane. I've noticed the tendency too ... it really does lose energy fast in a full-flap turn.
