RE: Has the extreme Heat stopped your flying
Went out yesterday about 6:30AM and flew until 10:30-11:00AM and it was not too bad at all. Others came out between 9 and 10. When temps are high I go out early and get my flying done then leave once it gets smokin' hot.
I did notice the additional heat certainly takes its toll on those planes with cowls close on the engines with minimal air flow. Those puppies were hot
Also you could walk around and see several planes with some really wrinkled covering. Overall it was a fun time flying. Got in about 8 flights on two different planes and talked shop some too.

If it's not the wind than the heat just another excuse not to fly. I must admitt that with age you can't take the heat as well when you were younger.

Attended Warbird Fly in Elkhart yesterday.
Sweltering. Temp "only" 97, but very high humidity and no breeze till 2 pm.
Everybody pretty much put in one flight with each plane and went home.
Assembly and disassembly sap the energy out of ya.
Some of our guys are pretty tough: outdoor H&C techs, welders, etc., but even they were suffering.
Hope they don't kill me for posting this picture, but it's one of my favorites: we were flying the bombers.
Hydrate at least one liter per hour and stay outta trouble!

RE: Has the extreme Heat stopped your flying
I see our flying buddies in the UK are having weather more fit for a duck that r/c flying and I feel for them... Here in Alabama... we have gone from 95 To 105 in a two week period and now I hear it will be cooler this week... around 90....
We ( the old retired flyers) meet at the flying club field at 6:30 in the morning daily, Monday - Friday and leave around 9:00 in the morning going to a nice cool place for breakfast....but we have hot coffee at the field around 7:30 a.m.... and sit in the shade... really nice weather for flying as the winds do not start to become a factor until around 9:00 a.m....

Guys
Here is Lenzie Scotland this morning! Heavy rain forecast until Thursday, wettest summer I can remember, have not flown for two weeks because of rain, high of 60oF forecast today, though I would not be able to cope with 100oF!
