Default Blatant censorship on this forum

I was sad to see my recent thread deleted. It may not have shown jet modelling in a good light, but it was factual. It was reported by Reuters, a well respected news agency & was of interest.
I never thought that RC Universe was in the business of trying to hide the truth & deny freedom of speech. I was obviously so wrong. My eyes have been opened by this blatant censorship.
So much for land of the free.
I did not get as much as an explanation for its removal.

I did not see the thread before it was deleted but I would imagine it rang alarm bells at a high level, the owners would probably have had no choice but to delete. Better I think not to advertise what can be done to the bad guys whether it is published elsewhere or not.

It is not censorship unless it comes from the government. I can throw anyone out of my house at anytime if I do not like what they say. Likewise, you can do the same to me in your house. I can write, print, and say whatever I want in my house. If the government suddenly comes in and makes me cover my writings and limits what I can say, that is censorship.
IF RCU does not like what you have to post about, they can delete it, it is their call. That is not to say they are doing the correct and proper thing, but it is within their rights as the owners of their "house".
The way I see it, we are given permission to post here. We do not have a right to post here.
This does not mean I agree with what RCU does, but they are within their 'rights' to do as they wish with their property.

It's not as bad as RCG.  Over there, vendors who pay for advertisement can do and say what they want but if you are a regular member, you will get censored or banned for the same behaviour.

Listen Guys, the modeling community here and the AMA had a go around with the FAA about its proposed rulemaking that would have seriously hurt our Jet flying, maybe even to the point of outright banning of jets. Things have cooled down a bit and we don't need anyone to relight the fires under the pot.

I know that no one meant any harm by the posting but this is a real touchy subject over here right now.

Best Regards,

Bob

The thread over in the Clubhouse hasn't been deleted yet and the conversation is very low key.

I know you feel the need to publish your "news" but all it did was relight an old flame. You know that that is an old issue that had its run on RCU months ago. your new "news" is that he pled out guilty-Big deal. He was dead bang done anyway. Pot stirring does nothing to help the hysteria around the AMA/FAA issues at this time. Scotty

RCU is a privately owned and operated RC Discussion forum. Threads get removed for many reasons here on RCU.

I'm not saying that we will restore the thread in question, but I am looking into the matter to find out what's going on here.

Not only that, but the only folks Reuters is "well-respected" by is a bunch of left-wing mouth breathers.

I am very right wing myself, but view the above comment as totally uncalled for. This isn't a political forum. Folks on both sides of the aisle should keep that stuff outta here.

Understandable. They are paying the bills so that we can play here for free. Until this becomes a pay site the advertisers will carry a lot of weight.

I can put up with them having their way because I don't want to pay the bills here myself.

I kinda have to side with RCU on this one. Sometimes you have to make a tough call on what supports our hobby and what doesn't. I just don't think it's wise to share "ideas" such as this broadly.

rcken if we tell the truth about a part or hobby shop that is true and backed by facts it gets deleted , people need to know about these companies that are ripping people off without worrying what a company will say , it seems that any thing we say negetive about any hobby shop and their products are not allowed why and why wont you let our members know!!!!
