Default BOBCAT 50 JETCAT P20

Ihave just finished my Bobcat 50 conversion to P20 power ,First impressions are an excellent airframe for the P20 it is big enough to see and is very stable in flight.
Handles well .I fitted Eflite 25 - 46 retracts,I had to cut the wheelwells a bit to keep the legs short as the model is designed for a pusher prop the original legs are very long.
Fitted a 20oz Dubro tank and no UAT no problems .
posted a couple of vids on youtube ,need to get the landing speed down a bit !

Congrats! I have an old version of one of these with an early Wren 44, perhaps a little
too much power with the Wren.

I also had problems slowing it for landing & ended up fitting an airbrake. I had problems
with the engine shelf cracking but the Wren is much heavier than the P-20. Have fun! - John.

I had to fix my Bobcat 50 .... as a pusher prop plane

the front blind nut mount in the tail boom came lose, nearly lost it.

The wood block has nothing to keep it from pulling out. ( the rear block is keyed into the boob on both sides.

After removing all the hot-melt glue and went back with epoxie, Then I added triangle stock front and rear.

Very well done indeed I am amazed that the P20 has enough power to fly this but obviously it does It just goes to show that the P20 will fly planes a lot bigger than originally thought

John , Tim ,Bob
Thanks for that ,
I tried the Habu and was not happy with it, I always thought it was not that easy to see especially in Ford Anglia crimson.God knows who thought that colour scheme up .
I was curious that a slightly bigger airframe would be ok ,if the habu would fly at 7lbs a bigger airframe of similar weight should be OK.
The proof is in the pudding the bobcat flys really well . I have only had about 6 flightsand I am very happy with it.
I went round most of the joints I couldwith Hysol to give the airframe a bit more strength.
Just big enough to get in the car built up, fuel up and fly for my Jet fix !!
Thanks
Chris

Here are a few pictures of the install I set the tank over the C of G,I put the pump and lipos in front of the tank I have no added weight as the model balances spot on at 265mm from front edge of wing,
I put the rudder servos inboard of the booms and put an elevator servo inside the tailplane as I did not like the original setup.
I wanted to have the canopy easy to remove so fitted an old habu latch and fitted ply to stiffen it all up, this seemed to take ages to do.
I lightly sprayed the inside of the canopy with satin black to make the outside look black intead of Orange!

Nice job Chris got one of these kits myself, picked up cheap with the thought of fitting a small turbine at some stage.
What's the all up dry weight and what servos did you use? also any particular beefing up anywhere or just reglueing formers etc, thanks for your help!...Cheers

Hi Kiwijet
All up weight is 7lbsdry, I fitted hitec 625 on aileron and midi hitecs on all the rest.no alterations apart from going round joints with hysol.
i keep it built up all the time as getting the wing bolts out is tricky as they are next to the tank.
thanks
chris
