The YA 16 rebirth
Hi friends
More than 24 years ago my partner and I purchased this YA F16 as a Ducted fan with the Rossi 105 and Ramtec fan.
We flew it in this configuration, and it flew nice, but it was a bit of a disappointment because it did not mark a jet at its best, as with turbines.
Since we switched to turbines, we have always dreamed of converting the F16 to a turbine because we did not intend to throw it away, as we were advised quite a bit.
We started the conversion more than 8 7 years ago on and off, and recently, after my fellow partners Gabi Keidar passed away about five months ago, I finished all the renovation and conversion and yesterday was the maiden flight again.
The plane was completely stripped, strength in some places in the wing area, the yoke used for the elevators was replaced with two close servos.
The plane is powered by the Kingtech K70 with almost 1.9L of fuel in it, and finally it weighs about 7.7 kg- 17 lb, little heavy but it flew like a dream.
I remember I saw once a film of it with a ducted fan, and now I'm so happy with the conversion decision.
Best Regards
Avi
