Default Super Bandit hinges

Does anyone know where I can get a set of BVM Super Bandit hinges?
I have Emailed BVM twice now and had no reply![&o]
I need to re hinge most of the flying surfaces as the airframe is 10 years old+!

Many thanks

John

As memory serves, they are Klett hinges. There is a package of 15 on ebay right now for $3.

Congrats on having a 15 year old Super Bandit. I lost my original Composite Bandit after 11 years due to a Tx failure [:@]

The super did not use Klett style hinges. It uses carbon hinges that have a piano wire going through all hinge points, making the surface removable.I don't know about UK sources, but if you call BVM models during business hours, your problem should be solved.

Why not drop Heather at BVM an e-mail at modelers@bvmjets.com
Determine which hinges you need....do you want an entire set to do the flaps, ailerons, rudder and elevators?

Did you make an enquiry to BVM regarding this post?

If you can get them I will have them mate!

Tried calling yesterday but I think I was too late!

JT - who's painting your Bandit? Look forward to seeing it. Mine flew this weekend - thanks for the P100 Dave! Flies very nicely, and will be perfect once I get it dialled in! I know mine is only a BARF, so I'm not worthy of you classic/super guys, but I like it!

Congrats Pat

They always look good in yellow!

I quite like the BARF!

I'm still waiting for some of my parts to come through customs, they've been in UK Customs since 30 July!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Plus I'm re hinging the flying surfaces and those have only just been ordered!

Got the engine!!

Hey, as the owner of a Super, (and a recently deceased Classic), I think ALL Bandits are worthy.. Actually, the BARF, (now that it has gear doors) is a very desirable airframe, and has a few advantages over the Super. It’s a good 3-4 lbs lighter to start with.

I am seriously considering a light weight MKII to replace my Classic, and powering it with a VT 80..

Yours with a P100, is arguably the best sport jet in the business. (Flashes included.) You will love it..

Hi Roger - this is one of the upgrades I plan for mine. They are just a little pricey to import to UK though...

We had two Bandits at Merryfield yesterday - both with P100's. The Classic appears faster (but that may be because Jamie doesn't know any other throttle position than fully forward! ) One thing I noticed is that my BARF rolls left when elevator is applied - tracked down to the fact that the original builder didn't mount the elevator horns the same - the left horn is 3mm shorter than the right!! Another small job needing my attention...

You know Pat, geometry is everything you thought you didn’t need when at school, and everything you need to know when building aircraft!
“Ironic” I think you call it!
I’m about to take delivery of the main gear doors on the super B, do you want me to do some templates for you?

Roger,
That VT 80 has to be one of the best selling Engines over here at the moment!
I do like its simplicity and light weight as well.

I consider that gear doors are a must for Bandits.. My Classic (balsa) had a sticky main gear door that would not quite close correctly. In flight it was quite audible on the ground, so there must be a lot of drag in this area.. And the whole purpose of a Bandit is a no compromise, fast, (low drag) sport jet.. You could easily build a door set from ply parts, but the kit from BVM will make it an easy install.

As these jets are so slick, what seems a very minor trim imbalance, needs to be corrected. All part of the test flying.
