RE: New Wren turbines 140 and 180
News regarding the 140 and 180 was actually released during Wren UK Open Day!
I had on display at my recent Open Day an outline and specs on the 140 for attendees to view.
We also had information describing these motors in our booth at Kentucky Jets.
There is an amazingly long develolpmental time to bring a new motor to the market, as many are aware. Others have no clue.
The new Jubilee motor has been in development for 2 years, and when finally released later this year, will offer a full kero start motor with 16 pounds of thrust for under $2000.00 US
In the late 90's, the first 54 motor ran using a wooden compressor wheel, that same platform now produces 22 pounds of thrust....
If anyone has a question regarding the Wren motors, please...email or phone, as I am always willing to discuss your concerns or ideas.
Best regards,

I don't really understand the US pricing for the Wren Jubilee.
In the UK it is £1200 which is an awesome deal. For comparison, the Jets Munt VT80 is about £1500.
In the US the price is $2000 and you can get a VT80 for that. Taking the £1200 and taking off UK VAT and then converting it to dollars gives approximately $1600. Does it cost $400 to ship and import an engine from the UK?

What are you using for a currency converter? I just ran it by the Oanda website and 1200 converts to just over $1900 USD. Appears to be right on the mark, just as Ron said it was..

Right now the conversion is $1.28 USD to 1 EUR. So.. $1200 EUR is $1536 USD. Also... the UK price has a 20% VAT... so it should be even less, since we don't pay the VAT.
I've been thinking about this myself. Since the EUR and the Dollar are getting closer... the USA pricing should be reevaluated.

Tony, the UK doesn't use the Euro. He is quoting the UK price in "pounds Sterling"... Note the L symbol, not the € symbol, so my conversion stands.

RE: New Wren turbines 140 and 180
I'm in England this week for additional training to service the Wren 44 Heli and TurboProp gearboxes and kerostart gas generators.
I have also just completed two days of intensive training regarding ECU and fuel pump setup and diagnostics.
The first two days were focused on the repair and building of the new Jubilee and 100.
I have also had the opportunity to get a first hand look at the development of the new Wren140. Progress is ahead of schedule for this motor and the new internal kerostart system will be incorporated on all new motors offered by Wren in the future.
More to come!
