Skymaster Viperjet Maiden
Well after a pretty intense few days in the workshop ( I only picked the model up from paint this Friday afternoon) and with the help of two good friends Friday evening ( Thanks Simon and Stevo ) I managed to snatch 3 great flights with my Viper jet today.
All I can say is WOW!! I think I have found my new favorite jet. Its just the right size for me, and feels so light on the sticks. Nice and balanced on all controls. Just like a precise F3a plane really!
Slow speed is stunning and it has loads of presence in the sky! Its like a perfect sport model and scale model rolled into one. I am itching to get it out in some clam weather now.
Sorry for the rubbish photos, but my normal camera was at work so had to make do with the wifey's compact!
Regards Al

Hi Ron,
I had an older than dirt P-160 sitting around so threw that in it in a hurry. I think I might treat it to a 160 SX next week.
Perfect power for me, loads of vertical and a decent turn of speed. I actually think that my model would fly great with a 120 SX. I did a entire turnaround schedule with the 160 throttle fixed at half power to demonstrate it.
Regards Al

She looked great in the air mate, good work!! Flies a treat and lands nice and slow, unlike me with my bobcat, i not only screwed the landing up on the first flight, breaking the nose gear flex plate, I went out and did the same on the second flight, nothing like making a good impression the first time you fly with someone LOL

Ali,
Nice paint job!
It must have been in the paint booth when the Skymaster/BVM deal went down. Nice "bvmjets.com" on the tail. Things happen fast these days.

Ah Gary, thats terrible to hear.
Dunc. Dont worry! I have that effect on people apparently LOL Seriously... It was not a great day to fly, and a bobcat on a short crosswind runway is not the best combo!
Ron,
Yep yours with the 200 must have some real push behind it. I look forward to seeing them at California. I am booking my tickets tomorrow and cant wait.
Joe.. if you need any help flying your viper at Cali jets, feel free to ask See you in a few weeks at Florida jets. Who knows I might even sneak the viper jet into a little crate??
Regards Al

Hi Hasan
Thanks my friend. Good to hear from you again. Did you fix your Hawk or is it still scared of me flying it
I actually think its better to fly than the SG Viper. Its feels lighter loaded and needs far less mixing to hold a clean knife edge. You will know soon enough. There is an exact duplicate of this Viper on the way to Kuwait soon
Speak soon.
Regards Al
Give my regards to Faisal and the Sniper!

Hi Ali
congrats from Switzerland for the maiden - your Viper looks very good !
I will give you my experience from SG ViperJet; first I flew it with original winglets, but the plane rolls back during knife edge, also the jet is to stable.
Then I change the winglets against wing tip tanks, the feeling is completly different then before. No mixing is necessary for a clean knife edge.
So I built also wing type tanks for my new SM Viper.

Fritz Heer/Switzerland

Hi Fritz,
Thanks for your feed back. I had heard the same thing, but a viper jet without winglets is just missing something for me! I like the look much more with the winglets. But with your advice in mind I made them removable and now with just two screws i can attach the normal non winglet tips, but after todays flights I really dont think I will fly without them.
Regards Al
I think I will have to order another Viper Jet I need to think on another scheme.

Ali I'm with you - this jet looks much better with winglets - but I prefer better flight characeristics, because I'm not a good pilot like you !
Mine is now also ready, due to lot of snow the maiden must wait !
Have fun with this plane.
Regards
Fritz

the issue with the skygate hawk is the ECU AGAIN !!!
i had to replace it with a new one before the duabi jet rally but again as you saw it failed to start. i think there is a problem with the v6 ECU . as it discharges the batteries i lost three already
we will fly this weekend for 5 days as we have the national day holiday here in kuwait ill be taking the airworld hawk and the eurosport along with skygate hawk. hope you'll be there
i just spoke to faisal and the sniper there smoking shesha and going to watch a movie.
regards
