Hi Phil,
As you're using oil paints for the weathering why, when you spray the clear coat, doesn't it react with the oil paints, as if spraying cellulose over Humbrol enamel? Is it perhaps because the oil paint is thinned so much by the white spirit that you are left with basically pigment?
Roger

Hi roger,
I have never had a reaction using artist oil paints and clear coats. Whenever I am trying a new product or method I always make a test piece to ensure there is no reaction, I do have a reaction with Humbrol enamels and the clear coat so they are band from my paint schemes.
Back to the model, here are some shots of both F-20UF wings and all the decals applied, now finally I can clear coat Matt, this will be done tomorrow as I want to give the airframe plenty of time to dry.

RE: Making an Ultra Flash into an F-20UF
Hi guys, it's a shame I am not in the states as I think I would be very busy painting F-20UF's
With this in mind I am putting an F-20UF kit together.
50 meters of lining tape. (0.8mm wide)
20 hatch lining tapes (0.8mm wide)
An A4 sheet of water slide decals
A sheet of paint masks which includes
4 stars and bars
2 x large nose numbers for yellow and red.
2 x fin stars for yellow and red
2 x Fin numbers (same as nose number)
2 x serial number
2 x Squadron number
2 x NAVY, MARINES or U.S. AIR FORCE
I think this is all you need, you can select the nose number and the serial number, ie wife's birthday date, or wedding anniversary date, your birthday date. The blue schemes serial number is his wife's birthday date but in reverse. Always handy to keep you in there good books .
All that for $100 + $15 P&P
I will add this to my website with payment by Paypal

are the Stars and Bars separate? i.e. I'd like to recreate the individual aggressor Red star with Yellow outline.
otherwise, I'll purchase a set as soon as you make them available on your website. btw, a google search for your website is buried 4 pages deep....perhaps you can post the address beneath your signature.

Buck theTan Splinter scheme would be my pick
Question for Pinnacle Aviation
When using the foam tape to create the soft edge can you describe the angle and position the gun is held at to get results you are showing in the photos.
I need to do something similar and would like the benefit of your painting experience.
Thanks,
Bob

RE: Making an Ultra Flash into an F-20UF
Hi guys,
The head of the gun needs to be 90 degrees to the surface of the model. I usually spray the centre area first then along the camo line last.
I hope this is helpful
