RE: New DX18QQ Quique S edition
I had an original DX-18 but let it go with an airplane 'package sale' and i miss it terribly... been ready to order a new one, so this came at a perfect time.
as i said, love the new software, the case looks to be a deeper grey with anodized sticks. pretty cool. and as John said, nice RX's come with it.

I had the Horzion rep main man in here earlier and the package looks good for the money. Interesting to see if there is any sensible dealers out there...
Gold sticks added bling.

RE: New DX18QQ Quique S edition
I am pissed! I bought mine less than 2 months ago. Here is a quote from the Spektrum website regarding the DX18: "And you'll always be up to date with the latest version of Spektrum Airware thanks to the Spektrum Community and the Spektrum Data Interface. " Now they are advertising the DX18QQ with "exclusive software features". It does not appear that any of these new software features will be available for the DX18. This is unacceptable support for those of us who have already purchased a DX18. If Spektrum (and HH) succeed with this, they will then be able to come out with a new "limited edition" every 6 months or so with new exclusive software, forcing us to buy a new transmitter in order to get the new "software". It may be time for legal action.

RE: New DX18QQ Quique S edition
Kraft had special programming? There was programming in 1977? I was only 1 so I missed that!
Yup, new DX18 last week along with a local buddy [:@] HH takes the money without even a hint... [:'(]
That's ok with me - a little too "skateboard" for me and I don't really care for someone's name all over my tx [8D]
It would've been nice to have a different rx choice with the "regular" dx-18 though, I think even with the x-pander 9+8 is still 17?!?! Surely they'll figure out how to get all 18 in one box before too much longer... I also would imagine we'll eventually have access to the software updates. Interested in the "3 position turbine trim?"
For the money the legacy dx-18 still seems to be a good deal, like goose I need some new receivers and a case.

RE: New DX18QQ Quique S edition
I only see one "BATT" port - is that the 10th channel you are referring to?
EDIT: I think I get it - just looked at pic of AR10000 - so, 9020 is really a 10000 with the x-plus capability and as usual, bus in batts where desired? SHUT UP!

Yes, just plug a servo in and try it.
If you are using two battery imputs you can use the bind or expander port for batt feed.

Hi Gary
Ive run out of channels for my A4 on my 12X I need 14 to work all the functions and have separate channels for all my control surfaces etc... can you get 14 on this tx when using a PB competition? or do you always need an expander module? Im a little confused (not difficult I know)
Cheers

Thanks for the heads up on the extra channel !!
Just an FYI to the other guys... you can also use a "Y" and put a second battery into any servo port.

Hi Alex, yes you can, also as you know four channels can be twinned up.
Channels 13 & 14 will be at a lower refresh rate though so don't use those for surfaces, sling the retracts or whatever on those.
Brg,
Gary.
p.s. F86 maiden tomorrow,

OK... I'm NOT pissed with the release of the new DX18. Why you may ask??? I just scored a deal on an original DX18 with an extra Rx!!! I guess I can retire my DX7.

RE: New DX18QQ Quique S edition
Hi all,
Looks nice -
A buddy of mine has a DX18 that he purchased 3 months ago under the same premise - he is really heated. He thought he was buying the best Spektrum had to offer as advertised, and now has been duped. Truth is he may never use the features that are different on this radio (QQ version) from his, but he does get comfort out of know he paid extra to have the best-now they pull this.
I sold my DX8 for an XG8. Does not make sense to purchase this product line when I (or any of you) can have a reliable JR product unless you need 18 channels - not bashing, just happy that I can be a proud JR guy again.
Here is what I do not understand and would like clarification on.
Horizon has been carrying the XG series for a period of time now.
Why has Horizon not done with the XG series what they have done for this QQ DX18?
There are a lot of people who will research things extensivley, mainly those on these forums. What I do not like though is the lack of publicism for the JR products here in the US in the recent past. There are a lot of people who are on the fence in my area about purchasing a new radio - the moment the see my XG8 they like it, and either say "it's mine" or 'Do they make an 11-12 channel version of this?". You have to know to search for it to find it.
I apologize for venting - I was really upset when I had to send in my DX8 for service after only 6 months of ownership - gimbals failed, almost causing loss of control on my 1500 airplane. I never had to do this with my XP8103 or my DX7 (Both JR radios in the real world).
Please do not take this to say that you should not feel confident in your Spektrum radio if you own one - I just would like to question the motive of Horizon on moves like this - it is angering to many of us as a loyal customers.
The positive side (to be completely fair) -
Horizon's service is second to none - that's I why I continue to keep doing business with them.
Their products, in most cases, are also second to none, and because of the above statement I know if there ever is a problem I'll find the help I need.
Their Spektrum servos (for the most part. also with a few exceptions) seem to be done right, or outsourced when they feel something was done better (prime example, the Spektrum A6030 - my favorite servo, is really a Savox servo with a different spline and case at an EXCEPTIONAL price) - being that I am in IT, in understand the value of not re-inventing the wheel someone else has already perfected
All the documentation included with their products is outstanding in my experience. It simply cannot be beat.
My $.02
Best,
Chris

RE: New DX18QQ Quique S edition
Actually... we are all jumping to conclusions that they aren't going to put out the software upgrades to the regular DX18. Has anyone contacted Spektum, or sent them a link to this thread saying people are unhappy? We already established that the extra $$$ was really for all the extra goodies, so why wouldn't they release a new firmware to keep the other people happy?
