Just had a look at this thread for some details on the kit and the MiG-15. One question I saw from someone was to do with the front hatch. Well I have a picture here that clearly shows it removed for servicing. The large catches that retain the cover are clearly visible! No hinges!

Hope this helps . . .

FYI For anyone needing nomenclature or graphics for this plane, Nigel is almost done with a complete set. He has done a few other models for me, very happy with his stuff!

I would like to introduce you to Mr.János Kulik. He was the team leader of the restoration of Hungarian double seater MIG-15.
https://www.facebook.com/janos.kulik.54

He works here:
http://www.rarebird.eu/

I spoke him and he promised me that he would help the modeler. If you need any special documents or pictures of MIG-15, write him. He can help you probably.

Wife and kids are away for a week, got the mig down and started on the repairs caused by the shipping monkeys. This is just a beautiful kit. Agoston provides a bunch of great photos, still leaves room for interpretation on a few things.

Questions:

Do you have to trip the leading edges of the upper rudder to get it in?

Can someone provide pics of where the air cylinder attaches to the speed brake door?

George, I might give you a call later and pick your brain on a few things.

Just starting to dabble on this build. Did some work on the hatches. I can't have regular hatches showing on this plane! Talking to George, he mentioned the details for scale hatches. He also brought up the idea about not having to remove the front hatch with the cockpit. So, as I have it now, the front hatch will be removable from the back hatch with two pieces of piano wire soldered to the pin mechanism. The back hatch has one on each end. All the switches, charging and filling stuff will be with the turbine in the back hatch. Please forgive lovely resin pattern on the carbon, New peel ply is not working as expected. Again, after talking to George, he saw the pic of the small hole for the rear hatch latch, he mentions making the rear aerial the opening mechanism… I will cover over that hole and make the antenna.

Here's where I am looking for help. Any ideas on securing the front of the cockpit?? My kit was the fast build version, Agoston did a lot of the work. Getting behind that front former is gonna be tough. My plan is to put one or two pieces of piano wire to the right and left of the light in the inlet and with my long drill bits, run it into the canopy. I think this is how the ultra flash is done? Love a better solution.

Does anybody have the C of G for this model, Xicoy weighing data would be helpful if not the distance from either the main wheels or the the root of the wing, something we can work too

Hi my friend has one that is an ARF situated in Norway. It is painted and all the hard stuff is done. All done by Agoston at Flytechnique. Roar is the seller/owner and can be reached directly by E mail. [email protected] He has a lot of pictures as well.

I believe another one was lost on the test flight when the wing snapped in half. Might want to take a long look at the inside?

Thanks for the heads up, but I have reinforced the front wing tube support already. Better to be safe than sorry. Since I have zero plans on competing in scale contests, I ripped out the scale flap system, and went for the tried and tested single servo in wing (30kg/cm servo) and traditional hinging. I also cut free the front hatch, to make an access board, like I had on my carf Mig-15.

Congrats on the successful maiden. I wish you luck with the kit.
Yes unfortunately I lost mine on the maiden flight. Yes yes yes go inside and reinforce the front spar just as the rear one is done. That is where mine ripped apart at.

I installed the main gear sylinders in the upper part of the fuselage, better room for bigger sylinders. I also modified the flaps....I am not going to compete in scale contests.

Behotec 180g. I flew a 6 min flight today, and only one of the two tanks were empty, so I guess you understand my flyging style with this model I seldom use full power, if so, only for a brief moment (verticals).

Btw, the weathering is not finished....can't work on the model now...must fly

How do the main gear operate using those cylinders in the upper fuselage? I'm only used to seeing cylinders with two air lines, and a mechanical link to the gear - those appear to have 3 air lines and no mechanical link to the gear - trying to understand the mechanism.
