DrScoles,
That would really suck if the plane is damaged. I hope it is all in good shape when you open the crate. I reallyl am annoyed that the people that work for these shipping companies don't have any kind of respect for the way they handle other peoples prackages.
It is just so disrespectful of them. Hope this can all be resolved in the end!!

Mike, Agoston does a great job of packing the mig. The wings and fuse are suspended in thick foam formers and well protected. They would have to drive a forklift through it to trash it. Hopefully yours will be fine.

I got the plane polished out. It doesn't look too bad. Just need to find some white gloves now. I started loading everything inside of it and recheck ing connections. Hope to have it on it feet tomorrow.

Couple more. Polishing is no fun and takes a lot of time. This thing gets hot quickly now out in the sun.

I wasn't lucky. Back end of the crate got crushed and it buckled the fuse, broke parts of the vert fin.. Wings are ok. That they had the balls to deliver the crate the way it looked is shocking. Now I get to deal with all the parties passing the buck and placing blame on each other. Not looking forward to this!

Besides the fuse being ruined, this plane is a work of art. Its blows BVM and tomahawk out of the water as far as quality goes. Those two have been my benchmark for nicest kits up until now. Amazing surface detail, and construction is perfect. The tires even have the Mig logo on them! Just a shame that some idiot ruined Agoston's hard work in the blink of an eye.

Just got off the phone with Agoston. Very reassuring that he called me to tell me he's working on everything and will get it resolved.

I'm in the middle of moving into a new house, life is crazy right now. The mig was at a friends house until this last weekend. Got a chance to survey the damage a little more, its not that bad. Agoston is going to make me a new tail cone, the rest is basic body work. Just wish the monkey's handling the crate would have taken better care of it!

I paid extra for the extra building, highly recommend it! He did a ton of work on this plane, and it looks amazing. I haven't seen a better quality kit. I think Craig mentioned above, there isn't a drop of hysol where it shouldn't be. The cockpit is complete, I mean complete… phenomenal!

I don't have the build pics yet, I really want to hide the rudder linkages. Two people on this thread have done it, in talking to George, he said you can barely see it if you do it as Agoston suggests. Not sure what I will do.

We need a detailed build thread!

here are pics of the canopy as it comes from Agoston.

Hey Mike
Glad to hear you are going to be able to salvage the plane. Yes to anyone getting on of these planes SPEND the extra bucks and half Agoston do it to the stage Mike got his. Had it been an option when I got one of the first set out. I'd definitely would have don't it. Well worth the extra wait time. Mine is almost ready. Waiting on the new paint mask and nomenclature to come in from Ralle. Hope to start painting next week.

Sorry no pics RCU still is not taking my pics. It just spins and spins and nothing.

mine should be ready be the end of 2016... guess better late than never, going for the painted version. 8500 euros is a steal for what you get and its basically an ARF at that point.

Hi Daniel, I honestly don't know the details, because I'm not sure how the base kit comes. Agoston did send me a list, but I can't find it. canopy is cut out and glass is glued in. Cockpit is done, I mean done, even the weathering on the controls and foot pedals! Gear and doors are all installed and fit is perfect. pipe and bypass are installed. He even runs the servo wires through the wing. Sorry I can't be of more help, George might be able to chime in.

Its basically a paint and install servos and turbine. You do have to put in the control horns yourself. I want to hide the rudder linkage, so need to figure that out.

All I know is for what you get, it is well worth the price. I'm not a mig-15 fan, but I had to have it just from the pics I saw here on RCU. Seeing it in person just reaffirms my decision. I can't imagine how many hours he put into making the first model and the molds… Definitely a labor of love. Running out of adjectives to explain the detail and precision on this kit. Just need to see some of them in the air.

So, I just got the build pics from Agoston. There are around 200 detailed photos. People asked what he did in the fast build kit and I didn't know, now I do. A lot. I think it was just under $2k extra for what I asked for. The canopy and cockpit area is completely done ready to go, down to weathering the foot pedals and instruments! The fuel tanks are assembled and mounted. Gear doors are completely ready to go. You have to cut them out and assemble on the regular kit. All the hinges are done and ready to go. This option saves a tremendous amount of time on the IMO, most tedious things to do.

He does not put the hatch latches on, I'm guessing because some people might want to try to make hidden ones. Nor does he place the control horns, again that is often a touchy thing for people and arguably best if you do it yourself. Might be a little risk management for him as well ;-)

I have some back tracking to do to repair what the shipping monkeys damaged, but its not a huge deal. Disappointing for sure, but all superficial stuff.

If you have tons of time and like the minutiae of assembling and mounting gear doors, do not choose this option. In my life right now, time is more precious than money, very happy I paid for the extra work.

Hey Tshark, test flight done and dusted.

Model flies very well with a Kingtech 170 for power. I am so glad I hid all the linkages and control horns, as it looks so much better.

Now off to the JWM tomorrow, lets hope it flies well in Germany too

Good to hear. Busuttil. Agoston recomends a 140 size engine. Is that too little? Can you say anything about the CG? The informasjon is a bit scarce. I am doing the final install on mine, and getting close to maiden.

I have a kingtech 220 going in mine. I did not want it to be marginal on power. You can always throttle back. If you don't have enough, well you just don't have it. Glad to hear your maiden went well. Good luck a JWM. I hope to see some video soon.

Rolf, Craig in NZ has the updated cg info. But I would like to know where busuttil set his up at.
