RE: JMA TOPGUN 2013 MAY 18/19
Topgun UK is nearly here, the dice are still being rolled for the weather as it does not seem to know what to do!
To recap on the format for the weekend, Saturday is a club day where you can fly what ever you want be it jet, prop, turbo prop etc. The Sunday is the Top gun event and is jets only. The pilots briefing is planned to be at 0930, although this time will be flexible dependent on numbers present at the time. As one of the judges, Pete Disney will give a bit of a brief on what they will be looking for. There are no slots or static judging, it is a flying event only and you can fly as much as you like. Trophies will be presented at around 1530. Tea, Coffee and Biscuits will be available both days free of charge. As in previous years there will be a portaloo on site.
The first Merryfield event was held in May 2010 and it was a scorcher!! it was so hot, the 'Captain' took his jacket off! Blue skies, not a cloud in sight! some disturbing shorts and T-shirt combos as well! Tancock also had trouble with landing on the 6000 ft runway! i very much doubt that we will be enjoying similar weather this year, but something close to last year would be nice!
For those who have not attended before, the attached map of the airfield shows the site from which we will be flying. Of course the runway we use will be dependent on the wind direction. The post code for the airfield is TA19 9HN which will take you straight to the main gate and for those that will be coming to the 'Bell Inn' on Saturday evening, the post code is TA19 9RG and is only 3 miles from the airfield.
Thanks go to Pat Barnes for getting the JMA authorisation for the use of Merryfield and also the use of the portacabins located in the secure compound. Space is limited so it is on a first come first serve basis.
If anyone has any problems or questions please contact me as soon as possible.

JMA membership and flying fees can be taken on the day, flying fees will of course be at the higher rate. If you need to renew your membership, the application form can be downloaded from the JMA website http://www.jmajets.co.uk/downloads.php and the membership and event fees paid by Cheque or bank transfer.

The chance to fly Merryfield for two days should not be missed, especially when faced with good weather!
Probably the best flying site in the country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Home, fed, watered and Moto GP'd I'm sorting through few shots taken today.
Big thanks to the Merryfield people, I understand yesterday was a cracker, but I travelled down this AM after Blackbushe and had a fly fest with my GJC Mig 15, DJ Vampire and CARF Ultra Flash.
Pat, Dizz and Jamie, plus Roger and the JMA committee for there work.
Weather was better than expected, a few spits of rain were dry 5 secs after hitting the hot ground.

RE: JMA TOPGUN 2013 MAY 18/19
Just got in from Merryfield and would like to add my thanks to Jamie, Pat and Dizz for the hard work to make the event happen.
I really enjoyed the flights on my F104, especially on Saturday when the visibility was excellent.
Some random thoughts from me - great flying by Mark Schroder and Steve Elias of their cougars, seeing Ian George enjoying his new CARF hawk and some great flying by Jamie of his hunter which was reflected in him being awarded the scale award. It was also great to see 'Cock' flying his Hotspot really well, some superb flying by Steve Roberts(he just seems to get better), Deans Kingcat was really shifting, Mark Hintons Yak which is so scale. On the saturday Mark Hinton and Steve Johnson flew there F16 together and that was great to see. Mark Schroders new Viperjet is B*****y enormous.
Great to also see my mate Dick finally fly at a meeting and not being stuck behind a cooker
Congrats to Pat Barnes, who won the award for sport model, it was well deserved and of course Dave Wilshere for the overall.
One final thought...and don't laugh but Mick Burrell flew his brilliant Sea Fury on Saturday which I absolutely adored, so much that I have acquired the wing for it as Mick left it behind Can someone tell him as he is probably panicing and wondering where the wing is.
Geoff.

As usual a fantastic event!
Organisation was flawless, and the weather was perfect!
Thanks to Pat, Dizz, Roger, Jamie and the rest of the JMA team.
I had a great two days of Kero Burning, and I'm looking forward to next weekends session!
Jamie well done for winning the scale!
Pat, great job for winning the sports/flying death Throphy!
And Mr TOP GUN himself Dave Whilshere who again probably put in most flights of the day! That Mig 15 was very convincing!
Potter's inverted landing was outstanding! LOL

Oh, that's a new one...an H in my name
Fabulous site and friendly locals. Fast becoming one of my favourite destinations...even with the slow drive home past the "rock starers" at the Henge
Even my/Robs/Your Hotspot looked good!
