Top I have very little trim in the flaps. Maybe 3% mixed in full flaps. I use flight modes on the flap switch and just trim it on the first couple of flights.
Mike, I did a pretty cool trick. I used the top antenna for a canopy release. I made a small slot in the top and contected the pull wire to bottom. It took some thinking but I got it perfect. You don't see the slot we releasing or latching the canopy.
Most people don't even notice how I release the canopy and when I latch it the springs pulls in place. I just watch for antenna to move foward.

Hi Mike, yes, I did the tabs. I think it is 11 sets in my case. (Left and right) . It was time consuming as each set is different so you have to make them one at a time but works good and worth it for long haul. I also made a tab system to keep the rear instrument panel in place. It works good.
hi Topiwala, it looks great. Did you Hysol them in place with filling on the sides? If yes, they should be okay. Also, I am opening the wing bag from the leading edge so I can slide the wing in and out in direction of fences. That way, there is no side pressure / grabbing on them once they are put or pulled out of the bags.

Finally got a nice day to go put the second and third flights on my hawk at Hamburg. At high speed the main doors are opening, Plan on putting the restrictor plates in for the next flight, hopefully that will cure it.

Hi,
yes I've hysol'd with fillets on the side. The fillets are not too huge as to ruin the scale look.
Guys, just to confirm, you are using DOWN elevator mix with flaps deployed? And not up like the manual says? Im not so much worried about how much as each model will be slightly different due to c of g differences. Im only interested in whereto it is DOWN elavator or UP elevator mix with flaps deployed.
Test flight day is 14th November. Final inspection to be done this weekend.
I need it to fly, and for me to get bored of it, so that I don't keep starring at it in the garage each night. My wife is getting worried!!

Ready to fly. Just a couple of extra pics. I decided against using the gear strut covers. And instead finished the main struts as you can see in the pic. I made a solid anchor point for the gear strut door. The door is then located onto and bolted to the anchor points. One anchor point on the main leg vertical section, and one anchor point on the forward diagonal section. Solid as a you know what. The entire gear strut is then paint in US navy grey, and clear coated gloss, after decals go on.
Also, I added some more scale detail onto the large antennae. I paint on some clear gloss on the leading edge to simulate leading edge protective tape thats used on the real things....I got bored of waiting for the test flight day so......

Toti,
The best hint I have is to through google pic search about the Hawk MK66 - you will find tons of pics which will explain where to put each part perfectly. For most of the covers, you have checkmarks on the surface, such as the naca inlets, the covers for ailerons and the bubbles below the exhaust.

Hi Toti, Thanks to Marc which without his Virtual build building one of these would have been many times harder, you can go to GBR Jets site and under the images, look at Skygate Hawk images and it will show you what goes where.
