I think you answered my question about the divider. Getting to that point in the build. I didn't know how I could glue the divider to the canopy without making a mess.
Thanks, Mike

I didn't glue my bow either. I glued it to the bottom sides and used the wooden bow to reinforce it. I didn't glue it to any of the canopy. I haven't mounted the bottom part or used the clear seperator.

Easy way to fix the blast screen as used on my three Hawks : The bottom of the screen is lightly glued onto the lower frame. The top of the screen frame is then secured by three small screws through the canopy, slightly contersunk. The screw holes are filled, smoothed and the white outer frame is painted over where the screws are so its all invisible and secure. Once in place the screen can be further secured with a tiny bead of Hysol. Job done !

So you are saying when completed you painted the outer surface of the canopy?
Thanks, Mike

Paint, externally, the white smaller dividing canopy frame, inside of which is the blast screen.

Disco, isn't that the electric conversion?? There's no way you'll get the complete set electrified for that price!! Something's amiss!

Main Wheel Alignment - what datum do you use for main wheel alignment? If I use the flap hinge covers then it looks like I will run into trouble getting the gear doors closed. Thanks for any thoughts.

Ok - with the main wheel parallel to the fus seam, I can close neither the main nor small gear door. Both sit up about two mill and that's after a fairly hefty sanding job on the bearers. The main strut cover is also in contact with the inside of the upper wing surface when the wheel is retracted.

So - I'm clearly missing something - any ideas what?

Thanks

The Saudi hawk has also flown!! Test flight went without a hitch. Everything just worked. Glad to have that done.
Maine insights though. It's a very draggy airframe. Likes to fly very slow. Coming from flying an ultra lightning, I guess everything is going to be slower.

Surprisingly I have almost no elevator trim needed with flaps deployed.
One question I do have for you guys. How much are your intakes restricted. Though I have absolutely no gear retraction issues and I don't need any intake restrictions, I want to see if I can reduce some drag through restricting the intakes somewhat.
Any feedback welcome.

Glad to hear you had a good flight...Yes it is very draggy without the restrictors. My first flights were only seeing about 155mph top speed and required 3/4 throttle to keep flying with gear and flaps. If you look at post #566 you will see the first restrictions I did. It turned into a missle. I saw 190+mph in level flight and I could barely get to slow down on landings. It makes a hugh difference. It was sucking in the canopy before installed the brace.

I have slowly opened it up to a little bit larger opening. I have it to my liking now. If you watch my videos you will see it is pretty fast. We did get a 217mph in a turning dive about 2 weeks ago. Not really worried about the speed as much as the vertical climb performance.

Now post some videos

My Skygate Has a full bypass and the difference is very noticeable in comparison to my Tomahawk, also you may want to open the exhaust ports on the side of the fuse as in the full-scale to vent some pressure.

Darn, I was going to be completely done with the cockpit but I messed up the MDC stickers. any great tips for application of these inside the canopy? I don't want to ruin the second set that is coming from Taylormade.

Thanks, Behzad

I put mine on the outside. Oh yea I put mine on wrong. I look at a FEJ or Skymaster picture and that Is how I got mine..They are suppose to contect in the middle. I connect mine to the outsides.
It looks fine and there are so hard to put on I am not going to correct it.

Hi Jeff

Thanks. I followed the instruction and installed the smaller one first and it went great except it had a very small kink. But the bigger one got messed up. Since I was ordering a set again, I took the little one out as well. I will try again se what happens. Hopefully it comes out good.

Behzad
