Blancr, didn't seem to have a problem with height for the horns. Tolerances are tight and there is not to much space. Didn't angle the face of the rear cover. Just left it as is because it would not be visible unless the aileron was at full deflection and you were looking at the bottom of the wing. Smaller screws certainly would make for a better looking installation. I plan on giving the srews a bit of red paint which should improve the looks.

Ok - thanks youngguy.

Anyone else encounter this issue?

I also assume, if the linkage is not to be exposed as the aileron moves up, the face of the cover needs to be angled backwards to extend further over the linkage which will exacerbate the height difference. So, some questions;

1 - should I simply lower the horns (reluctant to do this but might be a simpler solution in the end)
2 - just raise both covers up enough to make it work
3 - Has anyone taken the trouble to angle the face of the cover to avoid exposing the linkage as the aileron moves and if so, were you successful?

Thanks again for your advice
Bob
Hi Bob

the height of the horns is marginal to fit . But your covers might have been trimmed a little smaller. Mine was so tight that I had to use a thin nut in order to get them fit. also, I had to use button head screw. otherwise, it would not fit. You might be facing the same issue as it gives a feeling that the horns are too high. I did create an angle for clearance. I didn't have pictures but let me know if you need some and will take and post tonight.

Hi Behzad,

Yes - I'm already into the 'thin' nuts but it's clearly not going to fit as is. Some more pictures would be helpful if not too much trouble.

Thanks

No problem Bob, will do it tonight and you will have it in the morning if you are in U.K. I love the kit and the build but only frustrating thing was many of the fittings. For example, my wing tip light covers are so small that I can't use them.

Your horn does look high, I did a similar system back a few years on one of Ali's builds - makes access easy.......

Hi Marc,

Yes - I have your pictures as a reference - thanks! Am relaxed with the basic approach, it's just the fact that nothing is fitting as it should - but then, I guess that's why we do this stuff!

Thanks for your help Behzad and everyone.

Hi Bob, Of course Marc is the master and I should not need to post pictures. But since we are building the Arf version, here are some pictures. The horns are 17mm to the top.

Yeah , I did , but another way of using the parts in the kit is by simply positioning the clear parts on the wing and mark their edges with a pencil on the wing , then cut that area out .

Hello guys, I have a couple questions for you're advice, mounting the fin, do you have to glue it to the rudder tube? there is a screw on the bottom but non for the upper part, can't find any info on the manual, also what is the porpoise or advantage in cutting the bypass as the manual says, it says to cut it but no reason why, at the moment I have not cut it and my K210 fits perfect...
Also Jeff, what is the distance you installed the air restrictors from the front of the air inlet and do you have the measure of the hole you made on the restrictor??
Thanks for the help, hopefully I can maiden my Hawk next week....

I would look at post 837 I used the Bypass and it makes a big difference in performance. I have both with and without the bypass.

I didn't use the carbon bypass at all. I went with the Tams pipe.

I not sure of the sizing of the restrictors. I installed them right about where the curve starts in the intakes. Yours looks a little bit big on the opening.

I can tell you that they make a huge difference. This past week end I fly at a warbird event. after my first flight of the second day the turbine had a very slight issue. It appears EGT sensor may have give out. I have pull it and it is on it's way to Barry. No biggie. I have over 1100 minutes and this is the first time I have to service it.

I wanted to fly some more so I pulled my K180g out and installed it. I can tell you that it performed really well. It went 185 mph gps on a straight and level flight. It had awesome vertical. On my first flights with the k180g and no restrictions the best it would do was 145mph in level flight. Yes I can tell a slight difference between the 210 and the 180 but a lot less than I thought.

I can say that if I had done the restrictions before I may not had purchase the 210g.

Here is a little bit of video of my friend flying it with the 180G late Saturday evening at RAMS rc Warbird event. You can see the performance.

Nothing needed extra on the Rudder. Use the front single screw to hold it on. Word of caution on mine the blind nut fell off. It was a B^^^H to glue back in because I had already install the nose and turbine. I have taken mine on and off at least 10 times to inspect the rear servos and to change the rudder to the new design.

Hi, the cut on the bypass is not for fitting but is for the air flow. Somewhere I had posted a picture of how I did it so it was visually more attractive. As for the fin, as Jeff mentioned, no gluing is needed. I have the same set-up in the large Futura and it works fine.

Thanks

thanks, so no gluing on the fin tube and the restrictors were the inlet starts to turn, but I can't make my mind on the turbine installation, I have seen people with the 3 choices, full bypass, bypass and full bypass with the cut, what will do best and why???

I couldn't figure out a good way to mate the Tams pipe to the Bypass. After reading about cutting the V in the bottom for better cooling I deciede to leave it off completely. I think if you are going to use it you really might consider doing a sealed bybass like JC is talking about.

As I mentioned earlier the full by-pass is the way to go, yesterday I flew my tomahawk hawk without the by-pass after flying my skygate hawk with by-pass and definitly a big difference
