My personal preference would be a Tubinator.

Falcon's fly great... and they are dirt cheap. Never flew a Turbinator... but it's hard to beat a Falcon.

There's a lot of good info on the falcon thread. Basically... if you set it up per the manual... it will fly great. The only hard thing is getting the elevator set. But... if you set it in line with the top surface... it's a good starting point. (it will look "up" from the underside)

It's a nice jet... but very expensive for a wood ARF.

I can't speak on the Falcon but can tell you that the Turbinator is a great honest plane that will just about walk at landing speed with 60 degrees of flap and a little crow. Anyone who has seen mine fly always asks do you even use the brakes? My answer is usually no, unless we are on pavement to taxi. I never use the brakes on grass fields which is where I fly the most. A P-80 -100 for power would be just about right. My std one has a P-120 and it will go like stink unless you watch the power on level passes. I have been working on a 125% enlarged one for about a year with taking the summer and most of this fall off due to work.

Ralph,

You cannot go wrong with the Falcon. A friend bought one then somehow we all ( at our field) ended up with at lest 2 or more each.

Your question was short field, I would like to see someone land a turbinator as short as you can a Falcon/navycat/tornado.

Tim is dead on Great first or just fun to fly jet Mine was only reinforced glue joints with carpenters glue and stuffed a dowel in the tube My last flight i did a blender with it and the canopy exploded and it flung off one of the main wheels still landed with no problems Ive just been too lazy to do the repairs on it and ive got probably 15 hrs on the airframe
