Would you attend this jet rally?
Here's the deal: There is a jet rally at this great, wide open, no obstructions field with wide, intersecting runways. The field belongs to the military, and they have some restrictions for use of the field for the jet rally:
- 400 ft altitude restriction
- No RV-ing or camping overnight
- No trailers may be left on the field overnight
- Everyone must vacate the field by sunset
- Tents may stay, but nothing may be left in them
- No concessions of any type may be sold (the CD can offer "free" water, soda, etc. for a higher entry fee)
- "Porta Potties" are outside the field boundary fence, about a half mile away
- No fund raisers of any type, "definitely not for" Wounded Warriors and Navy/USMC Relief
Would you travel to a jet rally with these restrictions?
Sluggo
DISCLAIMER: Any resemblance to the restrictions of any military facility over a field under their control is purely coincidental and is a figment of the reader's imagination. The hypothetical situation posed above shall in no way be confused with the warm, cordial and helpful response I have received from the career entrenched government pay check and pension guranteed hard-working civil servant bureaucrat airfield manager at NAS Whiting.

No
Do it elsewhere where funds can be raised for a wounded warriors fund.
Most of the fun is hanging out with friends you don't get to see very often. Having to unload and load daily would be a downer as well. 400ft is ok but you know people would punch through that umbrella all day long.

Hypothetically speaking, not if I had to 'road trip' to it.
Otherwise, this hypothetical scenario looks a lot like a basic club weekend at Holley...show up, fly, eat or drink what you brough with you, take a leak by your truck, take all your crap with you when you leave...all hypothetically, of course.

I think these are the same rules that killed the event before.
No concessions, no big deal on that one.
Having to clear out at night and taking everything with you is a deal breaker for me.
Hope you can get it worked out as it was such a nice place to fly.

Wouldn't make the effort. We roll in with an operation, It takes all day just to get it all set up !!! Hope it works out someday.

RE: Would you attend this jet rally?
I was going to say NO... but your poll answer was a bit harsh. BUT... since it's VERY restricted... and no overnight... the only way I would attend is if I was close enough to drive up in the morning, and drive home at night.
So... I would only attend if it was within a 1 hour drive, and basically free.

This thread is over a year old. Why was it pulled up??
