Hi Ali,

Thanks for the info. Great scheme you are doing! Very mean looking. Are you not doing speed brakes on this one? What happened to your first one to necessitate rebuild? Reason I am asking is that I am gonna start mine soon and would appreciate any tips.

Just have to paint this one first......mig alley! I love it!

Regards,

Craig.

As a matter of interest Al I just checked my jet flight logs and my first flight was with a Sprint in Jan 09 which means I first saw you at the Nats in 2008 with the Mig 21 and the Globemaster, don't time fly!

Thanks again for helping get me started mate!
I remember that the globemaster just got off the grass

These pics are from Rougham 2009 I think this is Turbo Didi'sMig 21flown by MH. I remember he had a booster go down in it and he swapped it out at the field and flew it later

I have been thinking about these changes to the roundals whether to do them now or at the end, I decided today to paint them now.

I remasked them and have now painted all six but I only took two photos. I will take some more tomorrow. It's funny I'm working on the Mig 21 and I have just started build a Fiber classic Mig 29 so it's a bit of another mig alley. I will create a new thread for the 29 if anybody is interested.

The sign of a great builder. Not only does he admit when he got it wrong... he gets on it and fixes it. Cheers Phil! Now.. Decisions , decisions. Do I stick with the 160 that this plane has been built for ( I think it still has all the instal package fitted already ) or do I go all out and fit one of the P-180's that I have arriving on Monday????? Mmmmmmm
Craig. Reason for the rebuild was that on flight 20-30 I had a flame out caused by a fautly temp sensor on the AMT Pegasus. Hard as it might be to believe the 21 is no thermal soarer LOL

Ali:
Sorry, forgot to say that your scheme looks very nice! Does it fly nice with the AMT Pegasus? I bought mine frome a friend, who has built it, and flown it a few times. He never got to paint it though. I bought it with a AMT Pegasus, and from the video it looks like it's enough power.

Vincent:
Cool scheme! Looks mean.

Hey Bob . Thanks.
Yep it flew great with the Pegasus. Try it, I am sure you will love it Christian. If not. I will take it out of your life when I come to Norway

Hi Ali,

Sorry to hear that. I imagine it would glide like a brick. Did you guys do away with the live hinging on the flaps and ailerons?

Hi Phil,

Please do start a thread on the mig 29. I would be very interested.

Regards,

Craig.

Got some colour, the top base colour which is a pale cream. Due to the complex shapes of the camo I marked it out first which 3mm lining tape, then over the top is the foam edging tape, this is backed up with waterproof masking tape. If I can then I will use brown paper.

This process on this model will take about 6 hours to mask.

Ahh yes, 10 hours of prep for 10 minutes of painting, lol. This is the cool stage though because you see it coming together. Looks awesome so far.

Did you have to do much repair or filling to the fuse surface out of the box?

I know you used to own it....I love the way it flies the airworld kits are truely amazing fliers no matter which one you get. It's safe up here in canada I flew it about 10 times last year I went to a show called Wingham Jets and there is a video of her flying....here is the link I know a little hard of a landing but that was only my 3rd flight on a jet.

Hi

Congratulations. It looks beautifull. The camo schemes are hard to do....

Can I ask you, why do you use cellulose paint? Because they dry fast? What brand?

Best regards and keep up the good work

Nuno

A couple of shots in daylight so you can see the true colours, note the kills on the side

I finally found motivation to paint and weather my AW Mig-21.... Nothing fancy, I just wanted to see the model better in the air Maiden was in stock gray, and it was anything but easy to see. The video/pics in the video are from today. The russian stars are vinyl, the will be painted on once I get time

why you didn't use the foam masking direct and you placed first the blue masking tape?
at least this is what at did to my mirage http://www.petame.gr/forumv/showthread.php?t=8350

you can correct the overspray edges with fine sanding by the way
