Avonds F-104 landing gear options
Hi Guys.
What are my options for the Avonds F-104 ?
I dont want to spend more on the retracts than the plane cost with the scale gear, and I realy dont want to use wire struts, unless you guys say they realy work fine.
They can look ok once you glue som plastic covers over them i guess.
But I would rather have some oleo struts, with the correct angles for the axel/wheels.
Any idea`s ?

I have Robart retracts and struts on mine. Went with the multiple door option to give it a more scale look. Still not as great as the scale gear, but I can understand your perspective. I believe they are discontinued at Robart but wouldn't hurt to inquire. I got mine via Aeroloft when I needed them about 2 to 3 years ago. Aeroloft may still have a set to two.
I have a used scale set that I'll save if I build another.

I went with the Wire struts. I fly on grass so I wanted them to give a bit. theres really no problem with the wire. They havnt bent or twisted yet, but I dont have a lot of flights on her. Though if I were to do it again.. I would probably do what Sean did.
